Sbarro - The "Mall" pizza place

Probably as good a facsimile of a NY style pizza as anyplace else in the state of Louisiana.
I'm not saying it's the "best" or my favorite pizza in La., just that I know a lot of folks use NY style as sort of the gold standard in judging local type pizza places, and automatically place any establishment that does a good version of that at the top. Places in the N.O. area that often receive high marks for this are N.Y. Pizza, Mo's, Brooklyn Pizzaria - see, also, the original incarnation of Deangelos in BR. All those places do (or did) good versions of NY style pizzas, but none are really all that distinguishable from the slice I just had at Sbarro.
Am I out of my mind here?

Im not a fan of them making the pizza and three hours later throwing it back into the oven to reheat for 2 min and getting a still cold slide of pizza.
been a while since i have had sbarro though.

I wonder if there are Sbarros that aren't in malls?

That's the way places in NY do it, though. Although, you're not likely to get a 3 hour old slice at most NY places (if I go to Sbarro on my lunch break I probably won't either, though).
I can sometimes catch them coming right out of the oven (they all use the big industrial pizza ovens - are you the one who said there's no place in BR and few in NO that use anything but those crappy conveyors?), the pizza's are quite good. Also, you can just aske them to leave the reheated slice in a bit longer.

BR has a few places with nice gas pizza ovens not many though. Not sure about NOLA.
BTW I was referring to the length they sit out and the fact that no matter what it seems its going to be cold when you get it. They just dont put them in the oven long enough to reheat.

I knew what you meant. You just got to make sure they reheat it for long enough.
The slice I just had seems like it had been sitting out a while (it was the only pepperoni slice left), but the guy kept it in the oven for 3-4 minutes and it came out perfect. I've had them when they weren't reheated enough, though. It's not good, I agree.

a little, it just tastes like the stuff i used to buy at the grocery, that came with the Boboli pizza crust in a bag.

Got that right. One rumor of Johnny's moving into the mall pizza scene would cause Sbarro's stock to plummet straight in to the shitter.

I've never eaten Sbarro's before. I don't tend to want pizza when I'm in a food court.

Ah yes, I remember this place. It's not open anymore.

2 foot slice at Deangelos Pizzeria is better. It will run you 4 bucks.

by far my favorite pizza anywhere is at Sbarro... I call it "mall pizza" and typically every mall I've been to, even if it's not called Sbarro, is the exact same kind of pizza.
I love it, love it, love it.
No better pizza in Baton Rouge or Anywhere IMO.
