I like playing freshman, I think it helps a ton with recruiting. I also think its more important to win games now than worry about whether you would have a guy 4 years from now.

I think the most obvious answer here is Drake Nevis

We are half way thru the season, we have Blue knicked, and Murphy proven unable to be productive.

Ware and Ford are going into the heart of our schedule with at least a few touches. If Ridley goes down it is a MUST that these guys are ready.

The same for Wright and Boone....if something happens to Shep or RR or TT....somebody better be ready.

The injury bug has not hit yet, and hopefully it will not..but we need all hands on deck this year.

If a freshman is your best option for any situation and they are willing, you play 'em. A big time program shouldn't have to rebuild but constantly backfilling the current crop of studs by reloading with top tier talent.

true....

boone and wright will be playing next year...they need the experience...besides we get 4 or 5 star wideouts every year....Same with RB's....we have 3 4 and 5* RB's coming in next year....Ridley goes down who do you have?...its got to be Ford and Ware...I think you'll see those two guys getting more and more carries down the stretch, esp Sat..

Shep shouldnt have redshirted last year...he just should have been given the ball more...I know he hasnt had the career he would have liked so far here (and Im afraid he might turn into a TT, never gets the ball) but with his talent we may only get one good year out of him...Its coaching...the guy needs to have the ball in his hands about 20-30% of the game...period.

Spencer Ware is going to continue to get more plays as he gets healthier. he had some kind of injury after the second game and has gradually worked back in. He's our second best back in my opinion.

Al Woods.

I know our D-line is stacked this year, but Woods was improving every year. It'd be nice to have another 300+ pounder to wear out O-lines with this year.

Craig Steltz. Played about 10 snaps on special teams the last 2 games of his Freshman year in 2004.

Think we could have used his leadership and play in the secondary in 2008?

I like Ware. However, he has had 1 carry. It's kind of hard to judge him as the 2nd best back based on 1 carry

Les just can't win with some people. He sits the freshmen and "he only plays upperclassmen" or "he has the best players on the bench." He plays the freshmen and now "he's wasting years of eligibility."
Those freshmen that play in the hostile stadiums of our schedule will be going back as jr's in their careers and having the confidence that they won there already, or wanting revenge that they lost there.
I like that they're playing, and it will help the future of the team with their experience and with keeping up the trend of bringing in high-profile recruits.

the fact that ware has been playing more and more since his injury shows the intent to utilize him. i liked the amount of snaps he received against florida and i also liked how they lined up shepard with jefferson in the gun. they could have easily shut ware down like they did loston last season. i haven't seen much of tharold simon since the opener, ronnie vinson has been on the field more. wouldn't have minded seeing blue and boone/wright get a redshirt but with chris tolliver falling off the face of the earth one of those guys needs some snaps.

Nevis........no way. We won a BCS Championship because of him. Remember, Alexander and Dorsey were hurt. I bet he gladly traded a red shirt year for the BCS Ring and his contribution. Besides....we would never have seen him on the field next year if he had red shirted in 2007...unless we happened to drop in on a Sunday Game.

Tharold Simon
Sam Gibson

I'm not exactly 100% on if Gibson has played, but I'm pretty sure he has...someone can check on lsusports.net...I know Simon has played though

If Shep would have redshirted then had an off season or early season injury could he still get a medical redshirt?
