we traded for a starting 3 and a backup 2

the only way we could reasonably expect to move peja would be for a big-man, and i don't think many are on the market right now

Really Ariza could play the 2 and Peja the 3. That way you bring MT5 off the bench for a spark.

I'm confused are you saying we wouldn't move Peja bc there are no other spots of need on the team now besides a big man?

pg: no
sg: maybe
sf: no

pf/c - we can't move both okafor and west, so we'd have to replace 1 starter if we did

where else are you going to replace somebody? the 2? we have thornton and just drafted qpon and traded for belineli

The proposals I always saw with Peja for AI2 involved a pick, not DC. It doesn't solve the front court issues, but he could still be in play to become the starting SG. Our perimeter defense would be pretty damn good.

As much of a pipe dream as getting Carmelo. Thats never gonna happen.

Actually, with Ariza, we probably have a better shot at Melo than we would trying to pull Peja for AI2

They aren't going to get much value for Peja alone due to lockout next year. Much easier to let him roll off the books than force a bad trade. This is the NBA and someone is dumb enough to give up value for Peja's contract, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think keeping Peja and getting something good on the free agency market is a better idea. We arent gonna get a whole lotta value out of him and I would rather take my chances on free agency.

Iguodala's contract is an albatross. A trade for him would effectively kill cap flexibility and put the Hornets right where they have been the last two years.
