And I have to tell you, no possible way could it live up to the hype on this board. So, therefore, totally overrated. Not saying it was bad, but holy hell is it overrated.

And the new Dominos is better.

Maybe the kitchen was a bit dirtier than usual.

I agree with you, BTW. It's not bad, it's just mediocre pizza. I won't complain about eating it but I won't go out of my way to do so either.

Im serious, no flame attempt here.

I heard so much about it I made A POINT to get it while I was up in Shrevegas. It was alright, pretty good, but VASTLY overrated by the locals on the board. I thought their regular pepperoni was better because it had lots of sauce, and Im an extra sauce kind of guy.

dont confuse love of johnnys with love of 'sweep the kitchen'. i dont ever order it..and its nasty cousin 'sweep the swamp'. i'd rather just have a salt lick nearby than eat a 'sweep the swamp'.

but the pizza doesn't hit you upside the head..you gotta eat it a few times and then it will really start to grow on you. anyone who thinks someone will fall in love with johnnys the first time they eat doesn't know what they're talking about.

eta i'm a big pepperoni or just plain hamburger johnnys pizza guy myself.

Proof that you have no clue! Cardboard crust with cheap toppings and some garlic crap in the crust equals SUCK!

The nacho cheese sauce rocks with their breadsticks.

As for the toppings, to each is own. The sweep has too many for me but the pep and mushroom is great and I like the sweep the swamp.

Question:

Why even deal with pizza chains at all when there are locally owned pizza places that make better pies?

More convenient and cheaper in most cases for me. I haven't had a local BR pizza that I've cared for(not saying that I have had that many). Even when johnny's comes to town I doubt I'll go out of my way every time to have it though I'll do it more often than I do now.

Isn't Johnny's still considered "local"? They have 30 locations, but all but 2 of them are in LA. I wouldn't consider them a chain. I like the Sweep The Kitchen, but like the others, I LOVE just a couple of toppings (pepperoni, mushroom, black olive). If I'm getting a Sweep, I usually just get a small pizza at lunch. They are much better that way than on a large scale like a 14". Also, the cheese sticks are $$$$$.

If you get the 14" sweep you need to tell them to brick it.If you tell them to brick it they leave it in the oven a little longer and the crust and toppings are better!

Johnny's vary greatly by location. Mainly on account of kids these days are worthless and don't care about properly making your pizza. A well made sweep the kitchen is one of the best things on planet Earth.
