We'll be staying at the Intercontinental near the Galleria in Houston next weekend. Need some ideas (food wise) on where to take the lady for our anniversary.

Also some ideas on fun things to do.

Vic & Anthony's is a fantastic, albeit pricy, steakhouse in downtown Houston. Go to Minute Maid Park and catch the Astros losing.

Take her to Pappa Brother's Steakhouse on Westheimer...not too far. Very nice restaurant and great steaks.

I stayed at the same hotel a few years back. I asked the valet for a good place for lunch within walking distance, and he sent me out the front door, to the left, through the parking garage to Maggiano's. It was some of the best eggplant i had ever had. It was so good, i felt like a shmuck after the fact when i found out it was a CHAIN! (hadn't heard of it, and it didn't have that "chain" feel or decor with the annoying wait staff. )

Not recommending this for an anniversary dinner, of course, but it's a good option for lunch i thought i might throw at ya.

How much are you looking to spend on dinner? Type of food? Will you be cabbing it or will you have access to a vehicle?

Rainbow Lodge

Max and Julie

Indika

Da Marco

Catalan

Just a start...I'd also recommend La Carafe either before or after dinner for drinks.

Mark's is Houston's finest. It is located in a remodeled church.
Marks

After that I would say Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for steak, and for a French restaurant I would go to either Brasserie Max and Julie or Cafe Rabelais. They are owned by the same owner (Max and Julie will take reservations while Rabelais will not).

If it's for your anniversary, go to The Reef. Bon Appetit magazine had it ranked as the #1 seafood restaurant in the United States.

If not there, Rainbow Lodge is often considered one of the most romantic restaurants in the city.

Either one should get you sufficiently laid.

If you're looking for a Latin grill....try Pampa Grill on Hammerly off Gessner.

Argentinian food, cheaper/better than Fogo. Parradilla is enough for two people...great empanadas. BYOB though.

I really like the place, it's not very expensive either.
