Ridiculous. No conf champ game and 1 top notch annual opponent and lots of mid-tiers and conf cupcakes....yeah, yeah, they'll add OOC games, but so do most programs in the SEC and other conferences...

They already had much less of a hill to climb, and now it is even easier...and they get more money.

The winner of the UT/OU game will be top 3 in the final BCS every season.

the problem I see with this conference is what happened with the SWC there is no national appeal.

You could say the same for most Big 10 games, most Pac-10 games, all ACC games, all Big East games, and probably 1/2 of all SEC games.

Unless you're pitting 2 top teams you aren't going to have national appeal.

Really all the Big XII lost was Nebraska who was good last year but had been BAD for the previous...what 7 or 8 years? Colorado who hasn't been relevant since Kordell Stewart played there.

This is likely, but my hope is that we'll see either one of them at Number 3. Without a conference game, they are setting themselves up for getting left out like the Big 10. The only way they get in is if other teams start losing (like OSU 2007). They will both have to have some brutal OOC games to get the top spot in the end.

Texas will be the USC on the 2000s. Everyone would criticize them (and rightly so) for lack of competition and no conference champ game which lead to them being ranked top 3 all the time.

I don't see OU or UT playing for the national championship anytime soon. A one loss SEC/Big 10 team would/should jump an undefeated UT/OU every time.

Are you kidding?

The media loves Texas. There's no way an undefeated UT team jumps a one loss Big 10 team.

this new alignment will really hurt them in the BCS.

I think the only way they make it to the NC game is if there are no other clearly dominant teams... maybe a handful of one-loss teams, for example.

wrong, s.e.c. champ has the credibility. Miami had the credibility. UT is now the new u.s.c. outside looking in when all things are equal. one loss and your out. two other undefeated teams and your out.

ut is now the last resort n.c. team. big x champ, s.e.c. champ, pac x champ, a.c.c. champ with equal records trump ut or ou.

What's the big deal? They will have weak strength of schedule so they can go undefeated and get left out of the NC game. Or they can make the NC game undefeated and get steam rolled by the SEC.
The only level UT can now achieve is to be the Buffalo Bills of College Football.

Spin it anyway you like but the Big 12 is a weaker conference than it's ever been. It has to programs capable of winning big and everyone else just fighting for third place. One marquee conference game a year. Oh there may be a year here and there where there is an upset but not often. Tuberville will keep Tech dangerous because he's a very good coach and he will make Tech more dangerous than they ever have been under Leach. But it's still a two team conference. And one thing is for sure. Any team coming out of the Big 12 with National Championship asperations will have to be undefeated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but now they have to play one more conference home game. In other words, Texas' weak arse schedule is now weaker unless they change their OOC to tougher games, and that's not gonna happen.

Arguably Clemson and Georgia Tech

"all" is simply inaccurate. The ACC is way more appealing nationally than your new conference without Nebraska.

And the Big Ten now has 4 (minimum) national appeal teams.

not entirely true.... think 2003 when USC was awarded the AP NC while LSU won the BCS.

that could easliy play out again since an undefeated Big 12-2 team may lack the BCS points to make it to the BCS title game.

Wow. How delusional can you get. Those people are totally blind to the fact that it wasn't A&M that screwed things up, it was Texas and its quest for more money. Unbelievable.

that's my point. u.s.c didn't make the game. lsu holds the trophy. a.p. is no longer part of the formula.
