And again, let me stress that this is 3rd hand info. But it originates from a source VERY close to the SEC office. A&M is for all but in the SEC if they want in. Slive is in College Station as we speak, and had a conference call with all the A&M Board of Regents. The Board is in favor of the move to the SEC. Now, as for the issue of an 'offer', This is simply a formality. There are logistics that have to be addressed. Ton's of questions answered, etc. Once everybody is on the same page, at that point the official offer will be made. And make no mistake, it WILL be made. Now, what happens after A&M is on board? As I stated last night, Slive is going to make a run at Oklahoma. PUBLICLY OU is saying they are with Texas. But make no mistake, Castiglione and OU's Board have real concerns about the Pac 10. They don't think it is a good fit for them. And the big concern for them is the RRS. They are worried that it will be as risk. Slives job will be to convince them that the SEC will throw it's full support behind making sure that game is preserved. And Texas really has no leverage with them on that. The game is as important to them as it is OU. OU will be the key in determining whether the SEC expands to 14 or 16. If it's just A&M on the west side, then most likely Virginia Tech will get an offer on the east side. But if Slive lands OU, then the Slive will try to land Duke and North Carolina together on the east side. If Slive lands A&M and OU, then Texas has a decision to make. At that point the Pac 10 move has some real holes in it. Texas has 3 options..1. They, along with the remaining proverbial 'fat ugly chicks' in the Big 12 can go to the Pac 10.....2. They can try to talk OU and A&M to stay and try to salvage the Big 12, or 3. They can go to the Big 10. They'll have some soul searching to do. Make no mistake, Slive is handling this brilliantly. Slive is the best Conference Commissioner of all the conferences, and it's not even close.

Would be nice to see this confirmed, but take it for what it's worth.

I just don't see UNC and Duke joining SEC. Way out of SEC's league academically.

It's not. The game is big for Texas, but Texas doesn't need it. Without that game Oklahoma recruiting takes a HUGE hit. Oklahoma needs Texas, Texas doesn't need Oklahoma.

Neither really needs the other if Texas goes to the PAC and OU goes to the SEC - both would profit by the game

If they don't play then Texas will be hurt tho - may not have a single regular season game a national audience would be likely to tune in and watch

OU would be playing LSU, Bama, UGA, Florida etc - they would still have plenty of exposure... and still be playing A&M, LSU, and Arky in teh region

I'm not sure I'm in favor of teh Duke/NC idea at all - but I suppose NC is the market of interest

Slive could use the LSU/Duke connection to get that ball rolling.

It would make sense. NC is the only southern state with no presence in the SEC

Before i say this I would like to point out that i am one oft he biggest LSU fans you will ever meet.
LSU is not NEARLY the national audience as Alabama, Florida and UGA. You can't even compare it. LSU fans sometime don't look at the world without their purple and gold glasses on

alabama and florida are bigger IMO but LSU is probably a bigger draw than UGA now - they've won 2 ncs in the last 10 years for pete's sake

random fans with no connection to lsu (like oregon) even dislike lsu now - that's

anyway, doesn't matter for the larger point - Texas might find itself deprived of marquee games of national interest - OU would not in the SEC

I just don't see any way that the SEC lands both A&M and Oklahoma. Both of these teams want to maintain their rivalry games with Texas. I can't see Texas playing these two games every year as an OOC matchup.

i think what would happen is Texas would drop A&M for a while to be pissy, but no way they'd drop OU and that Red River tussle or whatever they call it.

I really, really want the SEC to offer OkState, too, if that is what is needed to get OU and A&M. Texas and the PAC-* would be up Poopie Creek at that point.
