no - I played a very minor role.

My responsibility was for lunar rendezvous - obviously that was not part of the rescue.

I was not in mission control at all, but work on other simulators running contingency scenarios.

the original moon landing and Apollo 13 are pretty hard to beat.

These men were not nerds. They partied like crazy when given the chance, but were capable of working days on end without a break. For Apollo 13, they brought cots in to take a nap every once in a while - never went home. I went home to take a shower, couple hours nap, then back.

The astronauts themselves were funny as hell - all except Armstrong - never saw him anything but dead serious. The others could replace Leno any day with their humor.

Yes, I was referring to the movie bringing out all the old school movie nerds.

My dad was on the ground crew for one of the Saturn mission, but I don't recall the details. He has a medal of some sort from it.

Bald dude is Richie Cunnigham's, I mean Ron Howard's little brother so it's not a surprise he was in the movie.

The Ed Harris quote;

'failure is not an option' was a classic

-they don't have guys like that now-they let the shuttle burn up knowing there was a problem.
