Between Ed Harris and Eric Stolz, I'm surprised any other actor could afford to eat in the mid to late 90's.

Bald dude is Richie Cunnigham's, I mean Ron Howard's little brother so it's not a surprise he was in the movie.

He was also in a Seinfeld episode as a tough-arse killer.

He's always popping up.

Think he was in the second Austin Powers too.

Oddly enough, NASA mission control is the IRL Nerd Super Bowl.

Back then they did it all with slide-rules and pencils.

The scene where the guys on the ground were brainstorming how to make a square hose fit into a round hole...

I was thinking "How can somebody think of that?" and then it hit me... These men are the smartest men on the planet. They really are rocket scientist!

Also, I read the book and the movie didn't have to add any drama for Hollywood, the real life events were almost spot on to the movie.

Didn't read the book, but saw the movie. I was there on the ground for Apollo 13 - Lovell and Sweigart were friends of mine - Hayes was just an acquaintance. I spent more time with Sweigart than any other Apollo astronaut.

The movie was pretty spot on - can't comment on the personal stuff about the Lovell family, but all the events portrayed were quite accurate.

That was the supreme achievement of the space program - getting those men back alive - so many things had to be figured out in real time that had never been anticipated before.

Smart people, hard work, good luck, and the hand of God prevailed.
