why get rid of a coach who has been in the top ten for most of her career?

you really think we can hire a better coach who has already built a better legacy in some of these minor sports such as softball or gymnastics.

so you want LSU to fire girouard and hire a coach from ucla or arizona for softball.

dont see that happening.

personally i think loyalty is more important than the almight dollar when it comes to some of these sports such as gymnastics and softball. the dynamics and the recruiting of athletes is different than the mainstream men sports.

Unless the school steps in and says differently the next softball coach is going to be James DeFeo.

Lost 2nd game on another walk-off HR. That happened in Florida too. I'm not ready to fire Yvette just yet. Definitely ready for a change in gymnastics. In response to can LSU go hire a coach from Arizona or USC, etc....not for what they are willing to spend on the minor sports. Right or wrong, it's not a priority here like it is at other schools. If the administration cared they would have hired a strong women's basketball coach to keep that program among the elite status they had finally obtained.

Fico, the best HS pitcher in the nation. If that happened it's the second game that's happened to her. She has excellent control. I wonder what they are teaching her if anything?

Yvette reminds me a bit of Gunter. A coach who was among the best in a different era of their sport before expansion and extra emphasis of schools became prevalent for each sport.

I think they were/are both still good coaches, just not among the best as they were in the formative stages of their respective sports.

When Yvette took over you could've made a pretty good argument that LSU was the best softball program in the SEC. They had come off back to back overall SEC titles and routinely won the west when softball was revived in the SEC.

Now our gals are the 3rd or 4th best program in the conference. Not bad certainly, but that just says two or three schools have passed us since she's been here.

Bottom line is: Coach G does not make players better. Look at the "SEC Conference Only" stats and you'll find that LSU is 6th or worse in most offensive catagories. Pitching stats are mis-leading because they faced weak competition until the FL & Bama series. At $135,000+ a year,G should be achieving more with her teams.

I hope she does well..I want all LSU sports to be very successful.

But she did make alot of noise about facilities holding her back. Well, she's got the new stadium now. No more dressing in the bathrooms or whatever she said that was holding us back.

I'll not lose a wink of sleep one way or the other but when you say lack of support is keeping you from the top and you get support out of line with what your sport brings to the table, you probably need to get to the top or be held accountble.

Won 20 something in a row which included a bunch of stiffs. Her teams get worse with experience.

Yvette is one of the better coaches in the SEC and the nation. Having said that, Yvette won a ton of games by having excellent pitching and great defense. Yvette's teams have never been overpowering at the plate but she was able to ride the arms to 1-0 and 2-1 victories. I think the pitching staff is there to make this team go far, however this team needs to hit the ball.

I was at both games tonight and LSU takes too many first pitch strikes. Also, Dunne was consistently throwing first pitch changeups to the same hitters...Mitchell, Langoni and Anissa. They never adjusted and I think that Defeo, Hobbs and Yvette did not use the pitch tracker effectively.

Fico will be great but she needs to develop a consistent changeup. She is very similar to Stacy Nelson, who started her career at Florida with a 14-12 record and then went 45 - 5 her senior year after developing a changeup. Fico has the power but when you throw fastballs and curveballs around 70 without an offspeed pitch, the opponents get their timing down and will tee off.

This team has a lot of potential but they aren't doing the little things to beat the best teams in the SEC. I support Yvette and I think these girls can come back and compete with the best in the nation.

We hired an AD from a school that only cared about 1 sport, and keeping their other teams from having criminal charges filed. Lower your expectations. Hey he just canned the swimming and diving coach, maybe he's turning the corner!

Yep....but they've lost the last 5 or 6. I don't care if Bama and UF are ranked higher. If LSU wants to be the best, they have to beat those teams. The Tigers used to be the premiere team in the SEC, but they've since been passed up by UF, Bama, and UT. Even UGA has come on strong in recent years. It's time for Yvette to put up or shut up.
