LSU dropped from #2 to #7 in the Baseball America Poll. I know it doesn't really mean anything, but this is truly a joke of a poll. Baseball America Poll 3-15-2010

Who ahead of them would you drop down? Maybe Florida, thats it though. The rest of the teams 2-6 have all played MUCH better competition and have the records to back it up. LSU dropped the best series it has on its schedule so far.

That being said, with the SEC slate ahead of the Tigers, it is very likely we will be rising up to the top again.

Our ranking was basically a pre-season ranking anyway because we were ranked and then didn't really play anyone. As soon as we do play anyone halfway decent, we lose 2/3, so falling to 7 or 8 is completely plausible. We havn't proved we are worthy of a higher ranking as yet.

Beating Pepperdine two games to none without pitching your ace pitcher is nothing to sneeze at.

i love how yall wanna bitch about dropping that far. 2 weeks ago when texas lost to new mexico and only dropped a couple spots yall said they should have fallen farther. why should we think kansas is really that much better than new mexico? just b/c they beat lsu??? how do we know new mexico isnt actually pretty good??

typical...

This poll must be based out of Virginia. They've now lost 3 games and have yet to dip behind LSU, yet LSU loses 2 games and drops from 2 to 7.

Long way to go. Hopefully pitching gets on board.

Dude, dropping a weekend series at home to an unranked team is bad news to rankings.

We were probably higher than we should have been with our pitching shortage/weakness added in. Losing those recruits to MLB was huge and there is no end in sight right now for our pitching to get stronger. We really shold be around 10 until things get better/Renauldo comes back.

without Ranaudo, we are not #1, but we would still have a very good chance at going to omaha. but good news tiger fans, Ranaudo will come back and we will win. It's baseball, teams lose.

This weekend was just a wake up call. We will take it to Arkansas this weekend.

Two things:

One: It's not football, #7 gets you in the tournament.

Two: Didn't everyone bash Smoke for having #1 recruiting classes, then losing recruits to the draft?

I think its a pretty accurate ranking and nothing to worry about this early in the season.

The rankings in Baseball at this time are meaningless. In football if you lose one or two then you may be in trouble. Baseball there is a tournament and you could lose more than one game in the postseason and still make it to the CWS
