re: Average team

This team beats up on bad teams, struggles with good ones. The very definition of average. Front line pitching is terrible and they cannot get clutch hitting. Sorry if this hurts the feelings of those idiots who responded earlier.
Yep...winning series against Arky and being 32-8..and being a top 10 team = AVERAGE team...
You win the "Im an unbelievably idiotic person of the year" award...congrats...

how?
I know the pitching sucked. but the bottom 3 in the lineup did absolutely nothing. If Trey was in there...maybe we get another run across. It's not that far-fetched.

Or now that Pete Carrol and his evil henchmen are gone, is there really a reason for LSU fans (or me) to hate USC?
You're kidding right? You DO know who the current head coach (and staff) is for USC?
:geauxtigers: :geauxtigers:
You know...if they had College stock car racing....Ole Miss could possibly win something...

re: How many bad outings would it take to move Ranaudo.

Drew Pomeranz walked like...what...20?
Neither pitcher had control...and with the wind blowing out and Ranaudo being a flyball/strikeout pitcher...and leaving the ball up too much...well..that spelled trouble.
Both aces yesterday were out of sync with the postponed game...both looked rusty...both looked uncomfortable.
Let's not panic...wait...that's what LSU fans do...
...ok...panic

You guys should make a trophy and engrave that on it...only one you would have...so dust of a spot in your empty trophy case...

who do you pull out of the bullpen to get the last 6 outs?
Well...maybe we dont even get that chance if we have to start JB and he walks every other batter and gives up 5 or 6 early runs. Id be comfortable with Ross coming in to close things out. He has great stuff and throws strikes. That's all you can ask for.

Why is it so important for you to say something that might make you look like a moron in the future. PM did not rule out moving Ott to the starting (weekend) rotation. He specifically said that Matulis and JB need to show they are ready over the next few weeks.
Would it be great to be able to keep Ott in the closer's role? Of course. Is it over the top crazy to think Ott may end up being our number 2 starter in postseason? ummm...no.
IMO we have one consistant, proven starter...that's not enough come regional/SR/CWS time.

but its not at LSU.
It's all about what have you done for me lately. If the basketball team makes a run for the title..even just getting to the final four...and the baseball team is in the CWS...basketball will be a bigger draw...IE more LSU fans would attend and/or watch the final four than the CWS...IMHO

and a hell of a lot more people around here care about baseball than basketball
It's easy to say that after an undermanned basketball team struggled mightily this year and the baseball team is coming off a NC and is 32-6. But if the great players coming in for Trent get the basketball team on a roll and make alot of noise....well...
:geauxtigers: :geauxtigers:
What's TJ's salary and what's PM's salary? That will tell you alot right there.

'm not comparing it to the pros, just said could you imagine if a mlb team started off that well, and only used it cause only mlb baseball plays so many games in a year to reference it to. I just don't think all that many people really realize just how many games we have won and how few we have lost since that great 23 game winning streak back in 08' Just wanted to point it out, and how pretty damn incredible what Manieri and the boys have been doing is!
I understand your passion and agree with your assessment of PM and the boy's performance over the last 140 games. It's incredibly impressive. But i think you would have been better served if you would have just posted the next best record over the past 140 games in college. I know that might take a little research...but that would probably be more impressive.

LSU's success over the past few years in baseball stands on its own. You dont have to compare it to the pros...it makes no sense...that's most likely all Elleshoe is saying.

The errors, bunting, and base-running,all need some tweeking before the post-season.
Errors----This team is a pretty damn good fielding team
Bunting---Who gives a crap about bunting?...leave it for Texas--just steal or hit and run with our speed and bats.
Baserunning---we only remember the bad times...but the aggressive baserunning has been more beneficial than not.
I think none of the above are real issues.
Now pitching...that still needs to be figured out before post season. Matulis and JB need to be very consistant the next few weeks or Ott may be moved to the weekend.
