what else do some of you put in the boil besides the normal potatoes, celery, onion, etc?

we added artichoke and a can of green beans with holes in it, was really good.

what you got?

Whole garlic is awesome.

Usually there's some people (mainly young kids) at my boils who don't eat crawfish so we throw some hot dogs in and they come out really good and seasoned.

Don't forget to put the crawfish in room temp water.
Then put the heat on. The crawfish relax like they're in a Suana and fall asleep. But they don't wake up.

I got this tip from Animal Angenda Magazine many years ago.

I also poach raw oysters in the water and top 'em with a bit of cocktail sauce, a cracker, and call them "oyster shooters" out of plastic shot cups. They are great.

Asparagus

Once I was picking up the stuff to boil at Walmart and passed by the lobster tank. I thought it would be funny to throw a lobster in there and then after dumping out everything on the table say "whoa, look at the size of that one!" Didn't do it though.

ETA: I've heard of people taking a can of corn and punching holes in the side of the can, emptying the juice, and throwing it in the boil. Might have to try it this season.

Whole, raw okra. Put it in when you start the soak (with the mushrooms).

I really stick with vegetables, I really don't like that when you put sausage in the crawfish tend to soak up some of that oil and taste. If I'm doing a boil and someone happens to bring some sausage, I generally wait until the crawfish are out of the pot and put it in then.
