re: Stroube's - Not impressed

Posted by TheKingfish on 10/11/11 at 4:37 pm to
A friend of mine, who frequents Stroube's, said Friday night was an off night for the place. I think the crowd really threw the staff off.

I've been a few times and had wonderful experiences. I wouldn't blame you for not, but if you would ever consider going back- it really is a great place. The Stroube's roll appetizer is one of my favorite things to eat!

There is also one on Essen.

New York Dining

Posted by TheKingfish on 11/4/10 at 3:04 pm
I'm going to New York City in December and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for good places to eat. I'm open to all types of places.
TIA
I was at Arnauds brunch about a month ago and had the Shrimp Arnaud appetizer (amazing) and the Savory Crabmeat Cheesecake entree (also amazing, highly suggest). The person I was with got Grillades & Grits and that was good too.

For dessert, have to go bananas foster.

It's a delicous brunch, enjoy!

Ambrosia has one on their website. The prices aren't listed, but you could give them a call.

There's also Abe's meat market. Not so much a "grocery store" but they make great stuff.

Arnaud's Brunch in NOLA

Going there Sunday, wanted to consult the experts beforehand about what to order or avoid?

Also, is their milk punch as legendary as I've heard?

Thanks in advance.

The food is great, I agree great prices.

MUST, MUST, MUST get a root beer. The mugs are icy, there's some slush in the root beer itself...amazing.
Whole garlic is awesome.

Usually there's some people (mainly young kids) at my boils who don't eat crawfish so we throw some hot dogs in and they come out really good and seasoned.

Pinettas isn't what it used to be before the change in ownership 10 years ago but it is still money and a cheap place to make a girl melt because it appears to be a classier place than it is

I have only been there once and it was my first and last time. Our waiter was awful and when we tried to talk to the owner (yes, OWNER) she was zero help and just as rude. The food was not worth putting up with all that nonsense.

On a happier note, my first date with my S.O. was to Albasha off Corporate. We both like Greek and the food is good, not too expensive, and the service is just the right speed (quick enough to avoid awkward silence, but slow enough to let you talk).

Good luck on your date!

Blue Cheese Chips are great.

They have a good breakfast/brunch too.

Never heard anything bad about anything there.

This.

Pretty much applies to most food. Moderation.

Superb
Very delicious. Mondays are dollar margarita night too, $2 for doubles. If that influences your decision at all...

Mon Ami Gabi in Paris is delicious steak. Very reasonably priced for the amazing food. Plus, you can watch the Bellagio fountains while you eat.

They move customers in and out pretty quick, but still get a reservation.

I agree with that theory. Jealousy is a sad thing, Chad's a jealous bitter little ULL fan.

Might want to let him know he'll need to tell everyone on ULL's campus to buy an updated t-shirt after Saturday.

Agreed. I had such high hopes for the show and it was such a let down. I watched maybe 2 episodes before giving up.

MAJOR let down.

Nothing beats a good home cooked meal, but it's nice to go out and be served every once in a while.

There are some things you just can't make at home.
