Do you think this is normal or is it a sign of a downward spiral in football?

they lost 1....that happens every year
And he still has LSU in the running he just opened up his recruiting again.

dangers of recruiting high profile out of state recruits. happens for us the same way with instate guys.....

These next three weeks there will be a daily decommitment thread. All these players are fighting for a handful of spots. Schools that may not have recruited them all year are all of a sudden offering a schollie, it happens every year.
On signing day LSU will have 25 guys that will be thrilled about suiting up for LSU. That's all that matters!

I know that makes 3. How many did we lose the last couple of years?

They lost more than 1, but it's not that big of a deal. This happens to every school, every year. These are 17-18 year old kids. Throw in the fact that we fired 2 offensive coaches, who these kids had close bonds with, and that doesn't help the cause.
BUT, the program is fine. Don't go jumping off any bridges.

We are wondering where we are going to fit everyone. It is normal. I hate losing the only WR commit though.

+1/2
I don't know if that is all that matters...it's all that is going to happen, but not all that matters
ETA: hell I want to play for LSU, but it definetly wouldn't be the best thing for the team
You do need to have atleast a handfull of playmakers...you need some top notch atheletes not just a bunch of guys that are really excited and want to suit up in purple 'n' gold...not saying we don't have top notch atheletes in the '10 class just saying the "want" to play for LSU is all that matters

Don't be surprised about losing recruits. Miles has trouble closing the deal every season -- even in his best seasons.
2009 revealed that the emperor has no clothes. Miles is clueless, and the only reason we haven't experienced more games like Ole Miss is because of the horse shoe in Les' pocket.

a downward spiral, now go jump off a building and kill yourself

The biggest concern is that we have no WR commits and we only signed 1 WR last year, and we STILL can't convince the top WR in the state to come to LSU. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope Reed changes his mind, but is it just a coincidence that we lost out on our 2 WR prospects, and the number 1 WR in the state the same year we had the 112 ranked offense?

Did you just copy and replace that from texags.com?
LSU will be fine this year. My gauge has always been the top 10 for recruiting. If you can consistently stay in the top 10 at rivals or wherever then all is well on that end of things. It's such a crapshoot there may not be a big difference between #1 and #10.

What is "copy and replace"?

Your asking for it.

Shep, calhoun, claiborne are all athletes that can play that position.
Simon from this years commitments could play wr also.
I really liked Hunter, but all is not lost my friend, we will most likely end up with a decent wr.

Actually the top two commits have de-committed (at least top two WR commits), plus the number one player in the state, also a WR, is headed to Auburn.
If people do not believe that our lack of offense has not played a role in this, they are crazy, in denial or both.
Question: If you son were a blue-chip offensive player, would you want him to play for Crowton and Miles?

This is common in the modern recruiting era. LSU is yet actively pursuing a handful of guys who are presently committed to other programs. A huge LSU commit for the '11 class was originally a UT guy. This is nothing new and will continue to go on. It's the reason most coaches would prefer an earlier signing period like they have in other sports.

If I had a son that was a blue-chip recruit I sure as hell would want him to play for some school that has better fans than you are. Why shuold a kid come to LSU and have all that ignorant fanbase to contend with?
If he started half of you jackasses would question his every play and scream for the guy behind him to be playing more. If he didn't start you would be screaming to get rid of the coaches who don't know anything about who to play.
Why should I want my kid to be exposed to this crap?
