I don't know what story you are referencing, but it's definitely believable.

I know that players would regularly get into staged fights just so they could cheap shot an unpopular coach while he was trying to break up the fights. This happened at a school with one of the highest graduation rates and SAT scores in D-1.

He didn't say that LSU was a mistake, he said he made a mistake choosing LSU. He is commenting on his own bad decision, and frankly with "fans" like some of you guys, I can see why he thinks so.

it may not have been his intentions, but that was the result. is this a program shattering comment, no. but it certinaly casts a neagtive shadow over LSU, and it is something he said on twitter.

not to his friends. not "off air" after an interview. not "off record" to a reporter. something he put out there, on purpose.

for that, he should be punished some. his actions from here forward should determine the severity of his punishment

He is just wishing he had gone to the University of Michigan and not had to deal with bowl game prep during the holidays.

He should be the host for out-of-state recruits

So, which is it? You want him to get a hold of his team, but without repercussions for the antagonist?

Now, I don't know if game suspension is the way to go, and I defer to the coaching staff, which will surely have a pretty frank discussion with him.

What did Leach do to the guy who spouted off on Twitter after Texas Tech lost to Houston? I forget his punishment, but he was punished somehow.

what if this guy ends up playing in San Diego or Oakland when he turns pro? Is he going to whine if he can't go home instead of earning a serious paycheck?

Yes, he should be benched. Players who spread negativity are a cancer to their team.

It undermines the efforts of the team. And, don't try and minimize the statement because it was big enough to make ESPN.

So, whether he meant it the way it was taken or not, is irrelevant. He's hurting the team. It's the type of distraction that the team doesn't need right now.

Simply send him home for Christmas. He'll miss practice and therefore not play in the bowl. Meanwhile, he can sit his butt at home and figure if Michigans bowl game is better. Oh, that's right they aren't in one!

Absolutely he should not be able to respresent LSU in any fashion whatsoever. What's this guy gonna say to a recruit?????

NO WAY! He is gone. COmmon Miles, be a man>

No, he has given alot to this team. Even if he doesn't want to be here, that kid plays his heart out. He has given more to LSU than anyone who strokes their keys on their keyboard posting crap on a website.

seriously?

like he's going to miss tackles and do things to help penn state win?

regardless of where you are nobody wants to be a loser or the reason a team loses.

i'd hate to be any of your girlfriends. men say chicks read into things, but gees you guys are sure blowing this thing up.

FU Elle, you get the jist. Dude came down from Meechigan to play some ball. He shouldn't be benched for what he feels.

Joxy I have absolutely no ill will against the kid, but if he thinks the biggest mistake of his life was to come to LSU then his heart isn't in it 100%. This isn't his fault, you don't choose where your heart leads you. But IMO for him to start would be a insult to his teammates who love it here and are dieing to step on the field wearing the purple & gold.

I would also say, I don't care what you do in life. if you view that your choice was a mistake then their is no way you can have your heart in it 100% and give max effort. Joxy if you viewed being a sports reporter and working at WAFB as a mistake do you think you would be able to do your very best and carry your weight work wise with your co-workers?

ask me that on christmas day when my family is together, in connecticut, and im at work.

or when im sitting in the rain freezing my arse off to go to player interviews at 4:30 pm when i'm anchoring at 6. true story. happened today.)

or when driving round trip to ark pine bluff on halloween day by myself then lugging a camera tripod and computer by myself to a place i hope has internet connection to send something back in time for a 6 pm deadline when the game kicks off at 1:30.

or when i look at my sad bank account because local news doesnt pay shite

or when all my friends spend every weekend doing fun things and im at work.

on any of those days, i could easily pull out my cell phone and say leaving my family and friends up north was the biggest mistake i ever made.and maybe even at the time mean it. but in the end, if you are making the sacrifices, why would you not do it to the best of your abilities in hopes that one day it pays off. why would he move here and then not give 100% if the reason for coming here was to get to the next level. y'alls logic is way way off.

if i didnt want to one day make it in this business, why would i put up with all of this day in an day out. when i could get a 9-5 making at least twice what i make now.

you do it because you love what you do. barksdale loves what he does.

everyone is allowed a weak moment every now and then. cut the kid a break.

Very good post. My dad told me a long time ago that if you do anything challenging, you will want to quit it at least twice and at times consider it the worst decision of your life. It's definitely true, and the hardest part is realizing when to quit and when to persevere.
