If he wanted to be able to go home for all holidays he shouldn't have decided to play sports in college

no more than punishing any other "student athlete" who does something stupid

kid did something stupid and should recieve some punishment for it...how much depends on him, BUT bowl season is as much as a reward for the season and a prep for the following season as it is anything else

Not like the other SEC coaches showing the twitter screenshot to recruits wouldn't do it.

this isn't really being stupid. he was being honest

barksdale had similar comments after committing, if y'all remember

i don't know if this is something that is punishable

if he had said something negative about LSU, then ok

I don't know if he should be benched. It depends if he has stopped trying. I would not play someone who does not try or does not care. If JB is still working hard, still giving effort, and still giving 100%, I would play him for that

yeah but on top of that having him be disrespected publicly? that would just be bad

any player that would let the fact that LSU benched him for this effect his choice of coming here is a player LSU can do without.

at this point it's not about barksdale

it's about all the other kids who want to come to LSU in the future

being honest wasn't stupid, putting it on twitter is stupid

he knows, as well as I, as well as you, he never should have put that on twitter....which is why it is no longer on twitter

his "emotional games" are a huge reason he ever chose LSU in the 1st place...after so many other schools backed off b/c he was "playing the game"

i don't know if this is something that is punishable

of course it is. he embarassed the university, the team and the fans. he will recieve some punishment for it...it may not even be game time missed, but he'll get something.

i'm sure he thought long and hard about it, and meant to do it with full knowledge of the effects

he didn't embarrass himself

he told the truth

we may not like that, but what is true is true

I bet most who criticize him are from a LA...and have no clue what it is like to be far from home at his age...

How do you know what has happened to him since he has been in BR? What do you know about his personal life?

Some of you folks are SO narrow minded its nuts....

I'd say that would have no effect on recruiting.

no, he shouldn't be benched. but if Les is feeling frisky he can sit him and try out my Josh D at RT, Blackwell at LG lineup. get em started early, since I think Barksdale will get 1st crack at LT next yr if we make no more coaching changes.

I have been in LSU for 7 years now (i got my undergrad and now my masters). This is the first year I wont make it home for christmas and it kills me but under NO circumstances I would EVER blame or diss my school on the national spotlight. He needs to address the team himself and apologize to THEM because this kind of behavior is contagious. He should be THANKFUL he is at LSU. Many people would do ANYTHING to be where he is.

that doesn't mean it was the right thing to do, nor does it mean he thought it was the right thing to do. which in essence, proves its stupidity. not thinking about it is more exusable and less "stupid"

quote:

he didn't embarrass himself

if you don't think he is ashamed at all you are out of your mind

quote:

he told the truth

do you think those 2 are mutually exclusive? like, if you tell the truth, you can't be embarrassed by what you said? have you ever been drunk before? hell, people get embarrassed in confession. just b/c you are telling the truth doesn't mean you can't be ashamed.

as a matter of fact, if you are lying, THEN you wouldnt be embarassed b/c you actually did nothing to be ashamed of
