While discussing the SEC, they were saying Florida and Bama own the SEC while all the other teams are down this year.

its pretty much a fact. without atleast a 3rd team in the hunt its easy for UF and Alabama. I'm not sure it won't be the same 2 in Atlanta next year unless all of those jrs on UF's D leave.

What's wrong with that? They're spot-on.

The SEC is still the best conference, it's just not unbeatable.

They've done this for quite awhile now.

Preseason - Sure, the SEC was the best last year, but this year they will be overrated.
Season - See, they're overrated.
Postseason - Who cares about a silly BCS Championship?

Rinse and repeat.

Apparently, one LSU poster here agrees, with talk of Arkansas' "weak" defence.

It is overrated this year.

Florida is not as good as last year.
Georgia sucks.
Tennessee sucks.
South Carolina is about to be 6-6.
LSU is underachieving again.
Auburn and Arkansas can't play defense.

I mean seriously....what makes you think the SEC is up to par this year. All the teams that are usually good suck this year.

We have 10 bowl eligible teams.

We will fill two BCS slots with teams capable of winning both, to include the NATIONAL CHAMPION, and 10 bowl eligible teams.

If that is down, as a conference commissioner I would take "down" for the next 25 years.

How can the SEC be overrated when we are still the best conference overall. Just because Florida and Alabama are better than the rest of the SEC (and the rest of the country), doesn't mean the rest of the SEC is garbage. Number 1 is still number 1 but the gap is not as wide this year.

I'd put SEC teams 3 through 10 up against 3 through 10 of any other conference and we'd win at least 6 of the 8 matchups against them.

They're just trying to stir the pot and get the fans that care (the SEC fans) to talk more about what ESPN is saying. It's self-publicity. The real football guys at ESPN know the SEC is best.

Yea, but what conference isn't having a down year?

The Big 10's best team is 10-2. The Pac-10's best team is 9-2. People want Miles fired when he goes 9-2. The Big 12 is really just the Big Texas this year.

All the conferences are down, but the SEC still has a 12-0 team, a 11-0 team, and two 8-3 teams.

Overrated in a relative term. Compared to other conferences, SEC is no way overrated. However, based on the conception of most people and the expectations that comes along with it, the SEC is overrated THIS year.
We still have teams (besides Florida and Bama) that can beat the crap out of any team in any conference.

How many of those teams will finish 6-6 or 7-5?

Answer: Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Auburn.

*note: Arkansas and Kentucky can finish 8-4 with wins.

I say that is mediocrity. These teams all have losing conference records. This means the became bowl eligible by padding their OOC schedule and beating up on crappy teams.

that's debatable. The SEC and Pac 10 is a quality vs quantity debate.

Clearly the top 2 teams are in the SEC, but the Pac 10 is deeper with good teams.

Programs that have been very good of late: LSU, UGA, UT are all down this year.

The SEC was supposedly overrated last year too and we still romped arse in bowl games. I would expect nothing less than that this year as well.

Records might indicate that but both teams got in a lot of dog fights this year for sure.

Jefferson and Scott don't go down for LSU and we probably beat Bama on the road. UF had some close calls with Arky and a couple other games.
