I going to be closing on a house in about a month and have only had to pay for renters insurance, what does home owners insurance run. I know coverage varies but my estimated cost on the good faith lending sheet is $120 bucks is this about right?

Where is the house located? In the New Orleans area, homeowners insurance runs between $2500-6000 /year.

Without knowing anything about the rates in that area, I'd say shop around. I've only had a few good faith estimates in my short time, but they have always seemed to overestimate the insurance premiums.

Check quite a few other insurances as well. Don't just rely on one quote, from one company.

For $260K worth of coverage, in Geismar, LA, I pay $920.00 a year, with a 2 % deductible.
My insurance is through America First.

here is how mine breaks down.
Terrebonne Parish / North of Intracoastal Waterway
House is 10+ ft above sea level in 1/500yr flood plain.
Home Owners Insurance $1060/yr
Wind and Hail (LA Citizens) $2100/yr
Flood Insurance $365/yr
Insured for $210K I only insured it for the amount I mortgages because I didnt feel like paying crazy premiums to insure for replacement value just wanted to cover the loan incase of a total loss.

I pay ~$1500/yr in Westminster through State Farm. Newer policies are pretty rough these days in BR.

State Farm isn't writing any homeowners policies right now in Lafayette. I've got all my car insurance with them and had planned on moving my house insurance back to them, but they couldn't do it.

Anybody who is in the military, retired military or an eligible military dependent is foolish not to go with USAA. They are the best.

Well I am non :( ,,,, I have a call into my agent now,, but if mom is right they might not be to quick to call me back,,, I have a feeling if I have to get my insurance through someone else I might move my car and personal artifacts policy's as well

Your State Farm agent should have a homeowner's waiting list. Check and see if they have one going. State Farm is the best. My whole family has SF and has had great service.

depends, you need to give a little more information
How much is the house worth?
How old is the house?
Do you have decent credit?
Where is the house located?
I mainly deal with commercial insurance so i don't deal with homeowners on a regular basis but i would bet that you will get better answers or suggestions if you give the above info
