Hey all,

My friends and I are about to launch a website dedicated to restaurants in BR and the surrounding parishes. I'm not going to say the name of the site yet due to it being under construction. We are going to focus on local places, specialty shops, and bizzare foods in the area.

One of our lead-off articles will be a ranking of the Top 25 dishes in BR. I am putting a list together and must say it's quite a task. Hopefully it will provide some good discussion once the list is complete.

Does anyone here have a favorite dish in BR? I currently have about 30 dishes listed and I'm trying to bring it down to 25 and then rank them. I want to make sure one didn't slip my mind!

I've tried almost everything listed, but so far only one thing named so far has made the list. One thing named I am going to add because I forgot how good it was. This list might become a Top 30 list. Best part is I don't have any repeating restaurants.

As much shite as BR takes, there are some really good things to eat here. And this is from someone born and raised in new orleans

This.

Also, the huge bone-in cowboy ribeye from Ruffino's when you're hungering for red meat.

And you don't have to pay inflated New Orleans prices to eat it

Fine dining in NOLA is inexpensive compared to other culinary capitals. Just an FYI.

What are some comparable dishes between establishments in BR and NO, where you can give examples of significant differences in price, to back up this point?

I can't come up with any offhand.

Great, one stupid comment and what was a promising thread turns into another pissing contest.

Snapper en pappillote (fish baked in parchment paper) at Louisiana Lagninappe is first-rate...probably my favorite dish. The BROILED stuffed shrimp at Don's is also terrific- not many restaurants make a broiled stuffed shrimp and this one is great.

I like the enchiladas at El Rio Grande, the hash browns at Louies, and the Veal Parm at Ginos, to get it back on track.

Still curious about what specifically Pman could be referring to. Don't want to get into a pissing contest.

Not a main course dish, but one of my favorite things to eat in BR is the Sensation Salad at LA Lagniappe. Oh, I really like the Oysters Lagniappe and the Crevettes there too.
