I know we have a variety of ages, but where ever you are I'm interested to know how you view your past spending vs. savings. IE, if you could do it over again.
a. I would have spent more and had more fun.
b. I would have saved more. I spent too much on crap.
c. I did it about right and would do it again similarly.

Age 26. I'm the kind of person that hates to spend money, but once it's spent I'm glad to have what I bought.

A during my college years; without a doubt.

spent more on stuff i will look back fondly on (going out, trips, etc)
i probably would not buy textbooks until i was certain i'd need them. every semester i have bought 2 or 3 books that i didn't open.

C - Age 51.
I'm very cheap with my everyday expenses (especially cars and clothing) but have splurged on things I absolutely don't regret (mostly travel).

43.
And I would say B, but since some major post-Katrina issues have wiped out the savings I did have, I'm glad I did A.

I caught on to that after my first year. The sad thing was professors used to advise students on the first day of class if they really needed the book. Then the college told them to mandate the book even if it was not used.

The hardest thing has been getting the wife and I on the same page in regards to the budget.
If not for her, I would likely be in a 2 bedroom apt and have a lot of cash. With her, we have a fairly good sized home, 3 kids and a lot of debt that makes me want to

OK, the tally right now (including my C) is:
A...Would have spent more... 3
B...Would have saved more... 5
C... Just about right....... 6
Of course, this is not scientific since a lot of people who spent too much may not have a computer.
