Freedom OF Speech Is Guaranteed By The Constitution; Freedom FROM Speech Is Not (Kimmel)

While Jimmy Kimmel is free to deliver his “witty” repartee about Melania Trump, he likewise should face severe consequences for his stupid-arse joke.
You’d think he would have learned his lesson after his Charlie Kirk “joke” and suspension last year. Some people, though, are just too stupid to learn, and Jimmy Kimmel tops that list. So rather than continue to make apologies or be embarrassed, ABC should cut their losses and rid themselves of this cancer.
For those who might try to defend Kimmel under the banner of free speech, I give you The Dixie Chicks, or as they’re now known, The Chicks. One ill-timed comment about then President George W Bush, for all practical purposes, ruined their careers.
Sure; The Chicks were free to make their disparaging remark. And the public was free to reject them and their music. Put another way, freedom of speech does not prevent freedom from speech.
If anyone on the board of Disney/ABC has a single testicle, let alone a pair, Jimmy Kimmel would/should be fired today. Kimmel needs to learn the hard way that while he is free to phuck up his life and career any way he chooses, he should not be free to disparage, or phuck up, the company for which he works.

This board has literally turned into what it hated until 2016.

I hope they keep that arsehole. That means they continue to show their Marxists hypocritical arses and lose a crapload of money doing it.

While I agree cancel culture is stupid. I dont think being fired or ostracized for spouting mainstream conservative ideas is comparable to being ridiculed for making an off-color joke about the murder of the president.

What you call cancel culture, others might call good business sense. How long should any boss have to explain away, or take up for, an a-hole employee?
Does Kimmel’s show produce revenue? Or like Steven Colbert, does it lose money? If it (likely) loses money, AND the host is a pompous, self-righteous arse, the decision should be easy.

I think you mean to make the argument that Freedom of Speech isn’t synonymous with Freedom From Consequences.
In a normal world… Kimmel would be ousted, no matter which “soon to be widow” he was clowning on. It’s simply distasteful without any comedic relief.
We are not living in a normal world.

I can’t prove it but have always strongly suspected the late night shows were being propped up via USAID for propaganda purposes.

True, but one side believes in a thing called truth. Now that gets distorted with many but in the end conservatives seek truth and freedom. We do not believe men can become a woman. We are different.
I don’t like trump but there is a huge difference between us.

There were repeated calls for Obama's assassination, discussion about Michelle glowing over being a widow, etc as a basis for calls to silence? Do you have a link?

That’s fair.
There is a glaring double standard with Kimmel versus Rosanne and Carano. And his ratings are so bad, anyone else would have been fired long ago. His politics are likely keeping him artificially afloat in late night.

You think Kimmel is writing his own material 5 days a week? No, ABC provides the material. The same company who props up The View, employs George Papodopolous, David Muir and all the other Dem shills we know & love. Kimmel is just another of their puppets.

With respect to government actors, it absolutely safeguards against retaliation for protected speech.

Of course it is, w/respect to the government.
If you are not free from govt retaliation, then you don't have freedom of speech.

I think so. It's not a coincidence that profits matter again.
