quote:

Iran through Pakistani mediators gave the U.S. a new proposal for reaching a deal on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the ending of the war, with nuclear negotiations postponed for a later stage, according to a U.S. official and two sources with knowledge.

Why it matters: The new proposal is aimed at overcoming the current stalemate in the talks and bypass the internal disagreements in the Iranian leadership about the scope of nuclear concessions it is willing to give in order to get a deal with the Trump administration.

But reaching a deal on the Strait of Hormuz first and lifting the U.S. blockade would leave President Trump with no real leverage in order to get Tehran to give up on its stockpile of enriched uranium and commit to a suspension of uranium enrichment for at least a decade.

Addressing those two nuclear concerns through military action or diplomacy are a key objective for Trump in the war against Iran.

1). Thanks for the “offer”
2) go frick yourselves
3) keep the blockade in full force. Bomb as necessary (though I don’t think it is at this point)
4) tell Pak eeeee Stan thanks for your efforts but we’re done working through you from here.

The blockade is the leverage. They don’t have anywhere to put their oil. If they shut the wells down they frick them up for months.

Eat shite Iran.

In what world do they live in that they think they have the power or leverage to dictate the terms. Just for that, 1/4 of their infrastructure should be leveled.

Earth to Iran. This isn't about the blockade, it is about Religious Loons with atomic weapons. It only takes one dirty bomb and all hell breaks loose, which is what these Zealots want.

I am not impressed with Iran's ability to negotiate at all. It appears their feet need to be pulled a little closer to the fire. I love how they claim they will not negotiate under pressure.

The USA is the pressure and will turn it up sans further negotiation by Iran.

The Bottom Line: That the Iranian people will turn and the soldiers will defect is the primary reason the US is maintaining the blockade. If the IRGC can no longer pay its soldiers in a currency that can buy bread, and the US has removed their ability to fight back, "loyalty" becomes a luxury the regime can no longer afford.

With the May 1st "storage wall" fast approaching, Iran is running out of time. If they are forced to shut in their wells, the economic death spiral becomes permanent.

Seconded.

Leaving the straits closed means Iran has pressure to come to the table because, otherwise, their oil ends up shut in.

I really appreciate this hasn't been in the news for the past few days. The MSM seem to report on the smallest details, causing angst in the markets (at least the pricing of oil), causing uncertainty, causing it to rise, blah, blah, blah.

I hate Iran... not the populous, the country and it's leadership.
