I'm starting to get emails from them regarding the plan to solve housing shortages and affordability.
The selling point: They're gonna replicate post WWII house sales that our returning soldiers got.
The plan: Triple housing tax credits for the middle/working class. And the govt is gonna pay for building lots of new houses for the middle/working class.
I can visualize the TV ads this Fall...'Can't afford a house? Vote for Bob Smith for Congress and he'll vote for government funding for your new home!'
What they do not explain:
a. How much more govt debt is created?
b. Where are you gonna build these houses? After WWII the suburbs were built on vacant land a few miles from a city.
c. Aren't 'middle class' and 'working class' redundant?

If done on large scale, this increases the overall housing supply, which, according to basic economics, would exert downward pressure on prices and rents by reducing scarcity in high-demand areas.

By constructing or subsidizing affordable units—potentially on public land with streamlined permitting—the government could bypass private market bottlenecks like zoning restrictions and developer profit margins, making stable housing more accessible for lower- and middle-income families without solely relying on subsidies or rent controls.

It’s usually executed poorly, which is the practical problem.

Removing illegals frees up housing.

They should stop right here. Build 1200 square foot houses that the poors can afford. Not everyone needs a 3000 square foot house. Live within your means.

That’s ironic considering housing has become more and more affordable under Trump.

Dems are fricked come November.

I wish the average amerocam could figure out the reason affordability (whatever that means) is 100% the democrat administration that was in charge from 2021-25's fault

This is gonna be a big problem in Calif. If you want to build houses near L.A. it's gonna take years get documents approved for each building restriction.

There's a massive pile of bullshite, right there. The inflation began before Trump, so it's not on him, but the housing market isn't affordable and new homes being built down here in the south are starting at ridiculous levels due to yankee migration.

The dems are thinking correctly on this one, although their execution will no doubt lead to slums and more crime, per usual.

If they sent all the HB-1’s home Texas would be flush with homes.

They would smell like curry but be affordable

GOP should respond with Mamdani. Poster child for the Dems making private property ownership ridiculously expensive.

Not sure that's going to be a good selling point to middle class voters when we add to the debt every year while fricking middle class voters.

And those WWII housing units became the crime ridden projects after the Veterans got jobs, moved on and built their lives.

This is another tactic to put undesirables in low crime areas.

You dress the reason of housing prices with inflation prior to Trump them blame Trump for Yankees mitigation away from Democrats cities? Sounds little confusing

Eugenics is probably the solution but as Hitler discovered, execution itself is the practical problem.
