In a world where Raiders of the Lost Ark exists, I feel bad for you.

Hook was the first movie I watched in cinemas. Maybe it's because of nostalgia, but I've never understood the hate it got from critics or even Spielberg himself. Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, and Bob Hoskins were all solidly cast and put on great performances. The production values were excellent, the score was incredible, and the story (while it had its flaws in the second act) was entertaining.

It's a solid 7.5/10 for me.

Maggie Smith looked older in Hook than she ever has in the HP flicks

Idc what anyone says. Hook is a masterpiece. One of my top 10 favorite movies. Every young boy should watch that movie. "To live would be an awfully big adventure."

I've watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, & ET the most. Empire of the Sun is my favorite Spielberg movie.

Empire of the Sun is my favorite as well. I've probably seen Saving Private Ryan the most of any of them...and Raiders of the Lost Ark is a close 2nd...but Empire of the Sun is his best work in my opinion.

This reminds me of the tv news guy on South Park when he said “like Steven Spielberg, director of such films as Always and 1941.” (I actually like 1941)

Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan are in a different universe than any other Spielbeg movies mentioned in this thread.

This came out when I was a kid and I’ve always loved it, seen it tons of times, so I was surprised when I got older to see it got mediocre reviews. I love Hook.

Crazy how it was Panned ( get it?) by critics an even Spielberg wasn’t a fan of it.

I think it’s a wonderful movie with a ton of heart.
