I know this topic is posted a lot but Jesus Christ I drove 75-80mph in the right lane this morning from ascension to bluebonnet and passed miles and miles of retards cruising in the left lane. It has gotten worse every year. No one was driving in the “slow lane” which is now the passing lane. Rant over

It's an epidemic everywhere and it's all demographics.

The left lane is always the slowest on I-10 where I live (three lanes.) Nobody has any awareness of if anyone is behind them, almost nobody checks any of their mirrors. They just cruise along scrolling the gram.

And with old farts, it's "it's a speed limit, I don't have to go that fast by law in the passing lane! Muh!"

My son’s driver’s education teacher said the majority of those drivers never had to take drivers education and don’t know how to properly drive on the interstate.

that along with doing 30mph in the on ramp to the interstate and trying how to figure out how to merge with people doing 70+mph.

It’s so they can be on their phone more. In the right lane you have to watch people merging, getting off the interstate, even slower drivers.

Don’t worry. Once fully autonomous driving is approved, all these people will be buying Teslas.

I-10 EB at Cane Island Parkway. Traffic comes to a dead stop, *every* day, most of the day, for this. It ripples back 3-4 miles with traffic doing under 5mph in a 65.

Had several people flip me off the other day because they tried doing this and I did not let them over.

Its not my responsibility to slow down to let you in. Get up to speed of traffic or I will run your arse off the road

The worst of them drive in that lane on purpose to slow you down. Then when you get the opportunity to go around them they get pissed off about it and start honking and flashing their lights.

WTF are we doing?

You say that, but on Airline in St Charles and Kenner/Metairie it seems to be 90% Altima driving women. Not Altima Men or non-Altima women. Specifically Altima driving women. I make a point to look and it's crazy the huge percentage. I can't explain it. Don't know if it's lack of knowledge or purposeful.

Just slow the f*** down. Geez people.

Quick fact: no matter how fast you go, someone will want to go faster. Nobody owns the road and you’re always an idiot to someone else.

Just f’ing relax and coexist.

Know how I know you drive an F250? Sorry people are in YOUR way. You aren’t the only one with things to do and places to be.

There’s no such thing as a fast lane. It’s a passing lane.

The freakiest thing I think is driving down I-12 after work everyday, and then when traffic suddenly comes to a stop, all kinds of motherfrickers start swerving onto the shoulder to avoid slamming into the back of people. People really need to pay attention and quit driving so fast around here tbh.

You’re not going to do shite. Why are you cruising in the merge lane anyways?

This maneuver is more about avoiding getting rear ended.

You just have to accept that 90% of the population is retarded and there’s not a whole lot you can do about it. I think about this any time I venture over to the poli board.

There is no such thing as a fast lane. It is a passing lane. No matter your speed, if you pass someone, you should pass on the left and then get back over to the right lane when done.

however, when it's peak hour and the roads are over capacity, that rule does not apply so vehicles can use as much available roadway as possible. Additional congestion occurs during peak hours when people zip from lane to lane causing others to hit their brakes, and so on down the line.

While I get annoyed with slow left lane drivers as much as anyone, if you really think about it, it’s extremely fricked up that we’ve made it functionally illegal to drive on any road with two or more lanes. Driving faster than the speed limit? Illegal. Driving slower than the speed limit in the left lane? Illegal. Driving in the left lane when not passing? Illegal.

At which point we’ve made driving in the left lane functionally illegal, I have a hard time complaining about how people choose to break the law when they drive in the left lane functionally
