If so, does Kash have the only copy of the files, and they spontaneously combust if he's out? Would/could not the investigation and processes continue under the direction of one of the deputy directors?

Man, people need to lay off Dan for quitting the FBI. The dude retired from federal service once already with the Secret Service. His marriage was suffering from being at FBI headquarters all the time. He quit to be with his bride and he's earned the right to do that.

I say this as someone who doesn't care one way or another about Bongino, but the dude has dedicated his life to serving this country. He's done way more than most and certainly more than the people bitching about him.

Also, Bongino says that Patel was always at the office before him and that he would go in at 5am and Patel was already there.

I want to say that he specifically went in there to take the fight to ANTIFA and once that was done he stepped away. I could be misremembering though.
