I like Alton Brown, but him being used in this is obvious propaganda to desensitize the populace to bug consumption.

And to be fair, I've had some bugs before (chocolate and caramel covered grasshoppers), but it is a novelty, not a staple of a healthy diet.

Mods, I wanted this to intentionally be a political topic, not a culinary topic. Can you move it back to Political Talk please?

I really don't understand the revulsion to eating bugs. If they taste good, who cares?

I have bugs prepared several ways and they were always tasty

I understand the memes and whatnot, but are people really worried about that?

Yes because there are leftist out there who would love nothing more than to outlaw all beef sales and only allow bugs and vegetables.

And not just the loony ultra left. The green folks want to combat "climate change" by culling beef consumption.

If they truly tasted good, they would have already been part of our food culture.

This is why beef, chicken, and pork made the cut but deer did not. Deer has to be cooked in a way that gets the gamey taste out. The others do not.

Bugs are the same way. If you want to mask the nasty taste, knock yourself out buddy. For the rest of us, it’s more like a novelty/stunt food you eat in front of an audience. You don’t take a bag of bugs back to your hotel room for a midnight snack.

Well this isn't true at all. I've had plenty of wild game that are not part of our food culture that taste amazing.

I cook deer just like I cook beef

many of them do taste good and if you don’t think Homo sapiens (and the many earlier advanced primates before us) enjoyed insects as a large part of their diet for millennia I don’t know what to tell you.

Nobody is forcing you to eat insects and nobody ever will. The panty bunching in here is surprising

Back in my military days, I had the chance to go to Malaysian Tracking School, and we survived on numerous bugs, reptiles, plants, etc. You'd be surprised how tasty centepedes can be...

You must have mistaken me for someone else.

I never claimed anyone was forcing anyone else to eat bugs.

I’ve eaten them on purpose and by accident. My conclusion has always been that there’s a better way to elevate my palate - by choice.

You are correct sir, but you can't argue with the Food Board useful idiots. It's futile, just like arguing with the morons on the O-T. They're all comfortable in their ignorance and comfort provided them by the MSM / Hollyweird / Academia. ** Yes, this is a PT rant, but it's needed due to the responses not understood.**

And you can't fathom how this could be used against our citizens?

Answer this, why is it always the left minded that are promoting things like eating bugs? Also, what is a hill that the left is willing to die on?

Climate Change, PETA, both left wing marxist ideologies.

Now, gather this information together and come to your own conclusions. Or, just say, "meh, no big deal" and enjoy your cockroach sandwich.

I can fathom lots of scenarios. I don't think most of them will come to be though

Is always left minded people? I don't really know the politics of the people that have prepared the food with bugs that I have tried. That didn't appear to be politically motivated.

I think they were just interested in alternative food sources and flavors.
