I wonder if smoke laval won 2 of the pastv3 championships before he was fired?

No LSU team since 1983 is as poor as this current team-- overall record, conference record, team fielding %, team ERA, and most importantly, the eye test.

It's high time this broadscale smear of Coach Laval comes to an end. His overall performance over 5 seasons at LSU is quite worthy of merit, definitely not scorn.

It wasn't nearly as bad as it somehow is remembered today. Paul's first LSU team was 29-26-1 overall, 12-17-1 in SEC play. The team was 11-12-1 SEC following its antepenultimate SEC series at ranked Arkansas, which series the Tigers prevailed 2 games to 1. The final game of that series concluded with a high fly ball CAUGHT in a leaping grab by a Tiger OF on the left-center field fence.

Like the 2006 campaign, LSU concluded the season by losing 5 of its last 6 (3 of 3 to Vandy, 2 of 3 to Florida, both years). Believe it or not, the Vandy Whistler was alive 'n kicking even way back then.

That team was really bad and though it was PM's first team, that was basically Smoke's team.
