It's high time this broadscale smear of Coach Laval comes to an end. His overall performance over 5 seasons at LSU is quite worthy of merit, definitely not scorn.

I can’t agree with this. He should not be scorned, but it wasn’t a meritorious performance, either.

2008 wasn't that good either until they finally put it all together and went on a tear the second half.

The 2008 LSU baseball team recorded a historic 23-game winning streak, setting a new SEC record at the time. Running from April 22 through June 1, 2008, this streak propelled the Tigers from under .500 in conference play to the SEC Western Division title, the SEC Tournament championship, and a berth in the College World Series.

The 2008 squad was talented and put it together when they had to.

Yea I think that 07 team went either 30-26 or 29-27 in regular season. Was really bad either way

If smoke was coming off 2 natties in 3 years, he’d have survived that season

Yeah the only problem with the Smoke firing is he didn’t win 2 of the last 3 National Championships. Pretty much a stupid comparison.

So, you think that Jay will get fired this year?

No…but you’d have to be a world class sycophant to pretend he did anything but a sucky arse job this year!

The SEC wasn’t nearly as hard then as it is now for every coach including Skip Bertman.
That is due to a number of factors including programs interested in baseball,
Number of teams in the conference including the 3rd team with the most titles.
The unlimited portal transfers
NIL
Player roster limits
MLB draft changes to less rounds meaning more players are choosing college baseball and staying longer because of court rulings giving them 7 fricking years to play.
Johnson losing the numbers to the draft the last 3 years yet he won 2 titles.

Smoke went out of his way to piss off his biggest baseball money supporters.

To the point of telling several of them face-to-face that he considered them to be "the enemy."

Word got back to Skip about that and Smoke was gone.

I just went and looked back at that roster. There are some solid freshmen who went on to have great careers. But I really don't remember many of those upper classmen. Oof.

So were you one of the 12 folks that followed LSU baseball before Skip came here?

The posters that try to rabble enough disdain for a current coach so they can feel influential in a coach’s termination give off some weak arse energy.

Jay couldn’t work the portal because we went far enough in the post season to win the national title.

We missed out on portal talent because we were in the process of winning a national title.

If that’s a problem to you, then you’re a moron. I’ll take a coach that gets a natty every other year any day.

These comparisons to thresholds when we fired other coaches is the same reaction farming bullshite these LSU media goofs pull who claim they want “what’s best for the school”.

You both just want what coaxes your ego. Take a seat.

And what happened in 2008 and 2009?

The sky is not falling.
