YouTube ads gotten out of control for anyone else?

The platform is almost unwatchable the past month or so. But they’ll never bully me into paying for premium.

I pay for premium because I watch YouTube more than anything else. Haven't watched a single ad in years.

I’m doing a 2 month trial right now. Not sure how I’ll ever go back to ads. Not really any alternatives for AppleTV.

Brave Browser on IOS or SmartTube on Android and you won’t see many

FreeTube also works great. Second the suggestion for a real browser like Brave, too.

We watched a 40 minute Dude Perfect video this morning with the family and I kept hoping for an ad so I could go refill coffee but there wasn’t a single one.
I don’t mind ads on free content but it can get out of control.
I replaced my debit card last week and I got 2 texts from my sons within 15 minutes of each other that they wanted to know why our Spotify suddenly had ads.
The college kid said, and I quote “I can’t live like this.”

I held off for so long, but a lot of my music and TV watching comes from YouTube. So I pulled the trigger.
Totally worth it.
Totally worth it.

Depends on what you watch but yeah they are out of control. Having said that, I almost never see them thanks to adblockers. I think they penalize me for using it by having a slight delay before the video plays but I prefer that to a god dang advert in the middle of a song.

The ads in the videos are only one of YouTubers problems.
The search being an absolute disaster of shite is the worst
It shows 95% sponsored content and complete unrelated shite. What you searched for is almost irrelevant to what you actually see in the results.

It really is terrible. Unrelated garbage and even worse it shows me tons of videos I've already seen and completely unrelated to my search.
The search on Youtube is almost as bad as Chicken's search on TD..... just joking Chicken..... (I'm not joking)

Depends on the content. Some are a blizzard of ads, while others are almost free of them.
The AI is getting very devious too in when the ads pop up. It's clearly reading keywords and picking out peak moments to drop the ads, and it's super annoying. Not just sprinkled in at random points.

I dislike the ads in very specific situations, because obviously you can pay to get rid of them
1. When I'm doing something else more work-intensive on my computer and I have to stop that to skip the ad - just distracting
2. If I'm listening to something calming/soothing at night and an ad pops up - thanks for completely ruining the mood and stopping me from drifting off to sleep assholes

Just use Brave Browser or, a free ad blocker on Firefox or Google chrome. uBlock Origin works great.

I don’t get ads, so don’t really care about that. But what seems to be the emergence of these dumbass “ASMR” videos where no one talks while I’m legit wanting to learn something is annoying as all hell.

Well, did you mention anything about his getting a J-O-B and taking that small responsibility on if he wants ad-free content????

And it’s not just the quantity of ads but I’ve noticed they also increased in length. On channels that I’ve been subscribed to for years used to have 30 seconds before you could skip, now I’m seeing most are a minute until skip.

YouTube is probably the most watched app in my house. I pay for premium and it’s definitely worth it.
