Except maybe by the factory.
And it's a common production shotgun. Not a special or collectable model.

If in doubt, bring it to a gunsmith for a look-see. Can't cost that much.

Are you asking from a safety perspective? I routinely hunt with several different rifles and shotguns that are 50 plus years old.
If from a resale value not firing it and keeping it pristine will add value but if it was me the value of pawpaws gun is irrelevant cus it wouldn’t ever be for sale and I would take it hunting every chance I had.

I don’t think that model is particularly collectible. No problem shooting it IMO.

Greatest gift my paw paw ever gave me was telling me which of his guns he thought were pieces of shite and never should have bought, and the only reason he still had them was because he didn’t want to deal with tire kickers. Not every gun your paw paw had was some cherished heirloom.

I took one of my grandfathers mod 12 Winchester shotguns to a gunsmith to make sure it worked before I shot. That gun is at least 80 years old

Correct but that gun is not a turd. If pawpaw passed down a high pernt then maybe get rid of it. Take that back I would carry that brick with pride and try to clap a deer with it shooting sideways just for pawpaw!!!
