We are being deceived by cult politics...

For a long time now, my politics has been influenced heavily by a mistrust of government. I've been a supporter of the "burn it all down and start over" philosophy, as I see us slowly sliding into depravity and Idiocracy seems more and more likely to where we are headed.
This past year has done nothing to change my views, as all of the waste and fraud that we saw with DOGE and how the status quo defended the indefensible. Is anybody surprised by all the waste and fraud we found in MN? Will anybody be surprised by how much waste and fraud we find in CA? or NY, or any of the 58 states?
I have always supported releasing the Epstein files, but realized that it is just being politicized, as well. Now we have Eric Swalwell, who apparently has done some things that were so bad, that he is being forced to resign. However, I have no doubts that he will never serve jail time, as I'm sure that was part of his deal to resign and NOT expose what he knows about other Congressmen. Again, Swalwell is not the issue. It's the fact that he will be protected, because the powers that be cannot allow the first domino to topple.
The whole point of this is that Washington, DC is a cesspool of corruption, and bribes and blackmail are the grease that keeps it running. We have two cults in charge and we are being forced to choose between the two if we want to participate in our governance.
Our government has run for years with the main issues being abortion, border reform, the deficit, LGBT issues, and the economy. It is becoming increasingly obvious that while we have been distracted and emotionally triggered by those issues, our bureaucrats in DC (elected and unelected) have continued to consolidate wealth and power using our tax money. The needle never moves on the above mentioned issues because they are not meant to be solved. They are just the distraction to keep us from noticing the corruption, waste, and fraud. And in the case of Swalwell, the sexual depravity.
A lot of people hate Donald Trump because he is a disrupter. He sees problems in the government and he does what he can to solve them and doesn't care how many powerful people he pisses off or how many gravy trains he cuts off. I hope his influence continues long after he is gone, because whether you like his style or not, he is shining the light on a lot issues that are never talked about in the media or the halls of Congress.

Thune has been holding up Trump on a lot of things this entire term.

Some, but not all.... and fewer and fewer folks are "drinking the kool aid". There is only one side of our political environment that demonstrates the irrational and unreasonable traits of a cult.

One day people will realize it is less about Red vs Blue and more class warfare. The wealthy and Elite vs The rest of us.

Swalwell will definitely see jail time unless he decides to take the coward route and off himself. Between the mortgage fraud, campaign fraud, and sexual assault/ rape charges he will be facing, jail is a certainty. We have too much momentum on the fraud and abuse built-up for the guilty ones to never see jail time.

This is where I'm at, too. Overall I'm pretty happy with what Trump has done and what he wants to accomplish. I just wish the man could ditch the propensity toward making really dumb social media gaffes. Like so many people, he gets emotional and posts about it for the world to see, when we'd all do ourselves more of a service by just thinking before we decide whether or not to post.

Lulz
You people need to learn history, because you are being doomed to repeat it. Allow me a quick refresher
* Conway Cabal was established to remove George Washington as Commander of the Continental Army
* Sen William Blount-TN) was expelled from the Senate for conspiring to have Britain take over La. and Fla.
* Gen James Wilkinson was appointed Gov of the upper La. Purchase. He then conspired with Spain to get KY to secede from the Union
* Aaron Burr tried to seize part of the La. Purchase and establish his own country. He was arrested for treason, He later dueled with Alexander Hamilton and killed him
* Corrupt Bargain was a bargain by John Quincy Adams with Henry Clay in the presidential election of 1824, in which John Quincy Adams was elected by the House of Representatives after Andrew Jackson won the most popular and electoral votes but failed to receive a majority
* Preston Brooks (D-SC) beat Sen Charles Sumner (R-MA), until his cane broke, leaving him bleeding and unconscious on the floor of the House
* Jesse D. Bright (D-IN) US Sen. It was discovered that he had written a letter to Jefferson Davis aiding him in his pursuit of firearms for the Confederacy. Bright was then expelled from the Senate
* Andrew Johnson was impeached for violating the Tenure of Office Act. He was acquitted by one vote
* Crédit Mobilier Railroad Scandal. VP Schuyler was brought up for impeachment
* Whiskey Ring was a massive corruption of Ulysses S. Grant's administration
* Black Friday, when financiers Jay Gould and James Fisk tried to corner the gold market by getting Ulysses S. Grant's brother-in-law to convince Grant to take specific actions to assist
* William Lorimer (R-IL) US Sen, also known as the "blond boss of Chicago", was expelled from the U.S. Senate for accepting bribes
* Teapot Dome federal oil reserve scandal
* Truman Handy Newberry (R-MI) US Sen was convicted of election irregularities, but the case was overturned by the US Supreme Court. However, due to a senate condemnation vote claiming that he spent too much to run against Henry Ford, he resigned
And on, and on, and on. There will always be two sides attempting to destroy the other. Thats why we had the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Politics gets heated
Choose the side the best meets your values. But attempting to undermine that side only leads to victory for your opposition. See Judas Iscariot and the Jewish priests. Killing Christ was worse for them than supporting his goals as a Jew
Israel ceased to exist within 35 years of his death. Until 1948
Dont allow perfection to destroy the work of the good

I sort of have an issue with someone, who has publicly stated that his/her loyalties are with another country instead of the one he/she lives, being able to donate to politicians.

Ain't that the truth?
At this point we are down to needing to accept help from the ones only a little bit more good than bad.

I agreed with everything you said until the last part.
Sadly, Trump has too often become part of the system and still aligns himself with Warhawk's like Lindsay Graham. He also consistently praises politicians who we all know are worthless actors.

I hear ya Revalator... but, the fact remains that DC is all about politics. Trump has to walk a fine line in order to get anything accomplished. Unfortunately, this necessitates him having to remain friendly with some folks that probably don't share his vision for America, but he needs their cooperation.
I'd never want to be part of that spider web and I'd be a terrible politician. Lol
