Highlights

I listen to all of the national pods, and there is this phenomena where hearing say Lowe or Nekias rave about a player confirms what your eyes are telling you. No one watched the Pelicans play. Fears is being overlooked, but watch the word spread this summer.

Look at at these highlights. He is 19. In that last month I saw things. Special things. When you find yourself comparing a players speed to Wall and his handle to Kyrie. You are probably high like me. No but seriously there are Fears flashes that will make you want to say bold stupid things on chat boards. We should be more excited about this.

Two games that stand our:

Game 1 vs Memphis Ja tried to bully him in the backcourt and Fears just blows past him.

Vs Knicks at MSG... He was so good in every phase, but Fears gets hosed by the refs on that steal down the sideline. Every angle I saw he was in all along or reestablished in bounds. That would have been the cherry on top of his best game (possibly)

He looks like he is going to be very good. His growth throughout the season we fun to watch.

Fears will be very good, but the reason eh won't get more hype is that this class has been a lot better than people anticipated and he is still a small guard.

I don't want to beat a dead horse but not having a draft pick after they seemingly did a really good job at scouting last years class really sucks

Fears will get better and better because he has the drive to put in the work in the off season. He already has skills you can't teach.

He was already talking about getting bigger and stronger in his exit interview.

Fears is the Franchise.

If the Front Office understands that, the Pelicans will be successful moving forward.

If they think otherwise with:
-Murray
-Murphy
-Zion
Etc.

Then the Franchise will continue to be what it has been since they changed their name to the Pelicans and be unsuccessful in retaining top tier talent....

Fears will be a top 3 PG in 5 years.

Concern with Fears... his shooting and his AST/TO.

33% from 3, not bad. 78% from FT, not bad. 1.6 A:T, not bad.

The jump from year 1 to year 2 in those 3 categories will tell the story on his ceiling.

Hopes for Fears has to be Maxey like.

Maxey was 30%, 87%, 2.9 as a rook and now career: 37%, 87%, 3.0.

Only thing he needed was minutes and better 3pt shot.

Just something to chew on and watch for.

No doubt he’s a good one, we had him for one more guaranteed year before the rookie options start.

If we don’t surround him with better talent soon he’s likely to ask to be traded out.

Dumars and Weaver have to upgrade around Fears or we’re developing for the better franchises again.

We could but who cares? This franchise is doomed and he won't be here in 4 years.

Dumars says Zion not getting moved anytime soon. Probably means Murphy stays too.

His value has been de-valued so much....

If you move him you aren't getting the potential return on him anymore... so it will likely end up in the Pels favor to hold him hostage and if he ends up doing anything then, cool it paid off to hold him.

It’s the other way around. At 42 million a year. He won’t demand a trade at that sum.

You can another team of players for $42 million a year.

If Gayle likes the guy he is likely getting extension again.

I just hope he doesn't stunt the growth of a player like Fears and think that he is or can still be a face of the franchise...

He's dug himself in pretty well, I think I'd root for him more if he went elsewhere and made good for himself...rather than stay in NOLA and use excuses and what could have beens.

DeAndre Jordan is doing a great job working with the young players. Since he is aging as a player I would ask if he would be willing to hang it up and become an assistant coach. So he can work with the young talent full time. Even make him the G -League head coach. Definitely seems like a positive.
