Thanks, President Biden. We knew inflation was just in our heads this whole time.

Now do houses…

ETA - but yeah, commodities like fuel and aluminum haven’t kept up with inflation over long runs (as in since 1980). Pretty nice example of technology driving down costs over time.

Using Carter or Biden to try and make excuses for Trump's failures is a very low bar.

Peak (mid-2008): ~$6.00–$6.15 per gallon in today’s dollars
Other high periods (inflation-adjusted)
Early 1980s (around 1981): ~ $4.8–$5.0
2012: ~ $5.0
2022 spike: ~ $4.2–$4.3 average

So because we aren't at our worst means we are doing well? I don't think that is a winning argument for the swing voters who voted to bring down pricing from the 2020-2024 inflation period.

Pretty sure there's more than one poster being paid to push tweets and narratives on here. I doubt there's this many "true believers" just living to post non stop on here because of their deep appreciation of Trump.

In 1983 minimum wage was 3.35 an hour. After taxes, I'd take home about 2.50 an hour. Gas was $1 a gallon. One hours work would buy 2.5 gallons of gas. Saw a sign at McDonalds a few days ago that said "Starting pay $15/hr". After taxes, a worker would take home $10. Gas this morning was $3.89 here. An hours work will buy 2.57 gallons of gas. Seems that $4 gas is not that far off.

I borrowed a neighbors Kubota Track Hoe last week. I used about 10 gallons of diesel. Paid $5.39 a gallon. Looking at the amount of work that thing did on 10 gallons, that fuel is worth $150 a gallon. There is no way I'd use a shovel and do all the digging it did for $1500.

I tell people all the time, gasoline is still one of the best deals going. Profit per unit is very small compared to everything else we buy.

Grasping for straws? I'm not the one on here bitching about having to pay $10 extra to fill up my tank because I believe and trust what Trump, JD, Rubio, Bessent, etc are doing for the future of our country.

So go frick off

Price wouldn't even be the problem if the crisis was the same as the 80s.

Can you imagine the chaos if people had to wait 8 hours for gas. Or...… if they could only buy gas on certain days based license plate numbers.

The number of gas line deaths and arrests would be a thing to behold.

Buddy of mine lives in one of those 150 year old pier and beam solid wood, no insulation and single pane glass wooden window homes. Everything is original.

His house is over 3500 square feet with 2 stories. His energy bill is less than mine by almost 40%. Yet my house is just over 2700 square feet with all of the modern energy efficient appliances, windows, wall and ceiling insulation.

Go figger!!
