Baseball physics question: hitting for distance vs speed of fastball....

when I was young, my dad used to say, the harder the pitcher throws, the further you can hit it. When it comes to grown men though, is that really the case?
The simple question I ask is, if the pitched fastball is squared up on the bat the same way at 65 mph vs 100 mph with seams the same placement when it hits the bat, does the 100 mph fastball bend the bat backward with enough force, it goes the same speed or distance as the less powerful pitch at 65 that doesn't bend the bat backward as much? Or does the 100mph pitch bounce off the bat harder to go further? Lets assume it's an MLB homerun hitter swing

I was assured there would be no math.

The longest home run ever measured - Mantle at 565 ft - was hit off a fastball
all I got
all I got

There might be someone who has talked about this once

I didn’t know he was a baseball fan. You learn something new everyday.

Faster it comes in the faster it goes out.

You actually think we’re that gullible?

"Base ball" was not consistently spelled as one word until the 1920s
and it's mentioned in a Jane Austen novel

Keep Austen weird

I certainly come fast. That’s all I can add to this thread.

A 65 mph pitch might produce, about a 95–100 mph exit velocity while a 100 mph pitch with the same swing can push exit velocity well over 105–115+ mph. Dad was right.

quote:Wrong equation.
F=mv2^
(1.2 x bat speed) + (0.2 x pitch speed) = exit velocity
The collision between the pitched ball and the bat is partially elastic. The greater kinetic energy of the baseball creates greater potential energy on compression resulting in greater kinetic energy on rebound.
