Why the panic, the baseball team is right where they've been in years past

Since Jay has been here, he is an odd year championship coach (much like football ‘03, ‘07, played for in ‘11 & ‘19,). In ‘22 they were 17-13 in SEC, in ‘24 they were 13-17. In ‘23 and “25 they were 19-10 and 19-11.

Even years an average to below average team that didn’t make it out of the regionals. We are in an even year, and are struggling to be an average team. Now should they get on an ‘08 heater, and string a winning streak together that will change things. However, e now have a precedence.

Yes it is frustrating as we want them to play just baseball the way it’s supposed to be played. However, next year will be the telling year. With that said, pretty much everyone on here (heck, in the entire college baseball world) would be very content with a championship ship every 2 years.

Said this a while back. In our short sample size w Jay. Even years are the lows and odd years are the highs.

The entire premise of this post is ridiculous, but this is the line that irks me the most

It completely ignores how difficult it is to win championships in baseball. We were one Johnny Wholestaff implosion and one Alex Milazzo swipe tag away from winning nothing in 2023. If Little Rock or Arkansas don’t remember who they are and piss down their leg, we may have nothing in 2025.

So much has to go right that every championship is in itself an improbable feat. Reducing this to the assumption that we should just accept mediocrity in even years because of guaranteed success in odd years is an absurd position

In past seasons where LSU snuck into the tournament they had a good RPI despite the bad record. LSU’s RPI eats da poo poo this year. Not a lot of room for error.

I just wished at least one major LSU sport could be a consistent contender every year.

I agree it’s still technically possible to save the season, but baw, this year’s team is not going to do that.

Bad defense paired with only 3 consistent arms and a lineup that goes into deep freeze against any above average pitcher?

Which year was that?

The frustration has nothing to do with not winning a championship or even the record, it is the state of the team and the inexcusably bad play. Someone else started a thread about it is not losing but how they are losing and it was spot on.

Even $$ is not an excuse, these guys have been playing BB almost their whole lives and they can't even handle the basics. It is infuriating and baffling.

lol. This team isn't going to win any 20-something games in a row like the '08 edition. Contrary to my prior optimism, I'm going to go ahead and say the chance of hosting a regional is done.

Looking at the future schedule, barring quite the surprise I don't see them in the field of 64. USCe ain't gonna save them with the other four series ahead.

It's not the same because the defense hasn't been this bad before.

Because fans want winning to be an algorithm: We always win. That's not how reality works but that's what they want. Becoming a winning team requires failure. We are front loading lol

You’re right. We should be guaranteed success in all years.
