Had a blue jay kill one at my feeder. Didn’t know blue jays were assholes to hummingbirds.

It’s really nice to get a hummer from a bird.

Don’t know much of anything about hummingbirds.

Other than their life expectancy of 3-5 years, yeah, probably…

A could of summers ago, we put out 6 feeders and kept them full. We had 30 plus hummingbirds sticking around.
They are beautiful and amazing to watch. But those dudes are violent!
They get crazy! It was worth the effort tho. Good times.

Hummingbirds are cool.

I like to feed them when I visit my family in Mississippi.

I had no idea hummingbirds migrate up to over 3,000 miles and fly over the Gulf of America nonstop, approx 500mi.

It would be hectic, for sure. You can never really stop eating because your metabolism is so high and your body can only carry so little. You're so tightly wound and living on a knife edge that you have to go into torpor every night, dropping your heart reat to rock bottom just so you don't starve to death. It takes a while to come out of that torpor, so if a snake, or just an overly ambitious snail sneaks up on you in your sleep you are fricked.

The acrobatic flying bit would be amazing, though. You'd still have to worry with that one a-hole who is always causing a ruckus at the feeders.

Some take the land route. I believe it is mostly determined by which route your ancestors took.

I’d rather be an eagle. It would be fun to be a parrot and tell people to F off for over a hundred years also.
