Breakdown of how Alabama became so much richer than Canada

This is a 26 minute video with a lot of factors and points, but very interesting. Basically Alabama started with an elaborate strategic plan that initiated with bringing in Mercedes in 1993 than has snowballed the economy that includes the huge advantages of being a right to work state and low taxes. In the meantime Canada increased taxes, has been declining in productivity and opened the immigration flood gates to low skilled workers. Even watching a portion of the video is well worth the time.

When Mercedes was announced people screamed and howled about the size of the incentives package it was given. It has paid for itself many, many times over.

Speaking as someone who lives in the fastest growing county in the state......it ain't all sunshine and rainbows. People are every damn where now, more pop up constantly out of every ditch and pothole around. They're gonna make me move to Lawrence county if this keeps up.

I wonder if G Wagons would sell as well in the suburbs if everyone knew they were all made in Alabama, not Germany

Canada is focusing on the bigger issues.

Canada needs to hire Nick Saban out of retirement

It was a great move. Mercedes got an early adopter bonus.

That is Canada now, in a nutshell.
If you want your country to rapidly decline just embrace plurality, give outsized voices to the mentally ill, and applaud a stunning reduction in Christisn population.
Canada has done this, so congrats, I guess.

Cali could learn a lesson here. I think they assume the wealth will always just be there but the industries that build wealth are finding other places.

I assume you live in Madison Co.?
I thought Baldwin Co. was actually the fastest growing last I heard.

Neither. Limestone has been the fastest growing county for a while now. So much is coming into "Madison" (really to land that Limestone county just fricking gave away) and Huntsville that it has lead to shite, mainly housing of all flavors, being built everywhere.

There's so much construction constantly happening in Madison it's insane.

They are not. They are built in Austria. The more bulbous ones are GLE,GLS etc. I have heard them called “Alabama trash cans.”
we had little problems with our GLE53 but we didn’t keep it too long.

Sounds like Canada is following the Chinese model of investment and storing all of their wealth in residential real estate. Not a winning recipe for long term economic success. But I’m glad places like this are giving contemporary case studies proving these economic policies never work. Apparently people need constant reminders.

It is stunning to see how quickly they are ascending to positions of power.

They're gonna make me move to Lawrence county if this keeps up.
The only thing sure in life is change.

Not going to watch this version of the same retread story, but does it mention the vast amount of federal tax dollars poured into Alabama from states like California and New York?
TLDW: this keeps coming out that Alabama GDP is higher than Canada. It is a useless metric to view in a vacuum.
same topic 6 weeks ago being pushed on TD
