We need to hope the "Ceasefire" lasts until Saturday

Vice President JD Vance will lead a U.S. delegation to Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, for in-person peace talks with Iranian counterparts. The negotiations, aimed at a lasting agreement following a ceasefire, will include special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
When: Saturday morning, local time in Islamabad.
Where: Islamabad, Pakistan.
Goal: Direct negotiations with Iran to secure a peace agreement.
Key Personnel: VP JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner.
Context: These talks follow a temporary ceasefire deal and aim to resolve tensions regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
This meeting represents the highest-level direct contact between the U.S. and Iran in the current, ongoing, fast-moving situation.
-----
Face to Face and direct meetings are the best way to get to the bottom of all of this. I really hope this shaky ceasefire can hold until we get to have those talks.
We have achieved our military objectives and now its time to see what we can get done.
---
US Leverage - We have the military might to take out anything and everything in Iran and decimate them at will. Leaders are hunted and eliminated and their military and supply chain has been hit hard.
Iran Leverage - They have learned that they can paralyze the free flow of ships in the Strait of Hormuz will the simple threat of a few drones or missiles.
Wild Cards - Israel action in Lebanon and other Arab states getting pissed off at being attacked by Iran and retaliating back at them.

And they will do it again and again. Big mistake if we allow that.

Who from Iran is participating in the talks?

That is a great question and another reason why it will be interesting to see who shows up at the talks!

Don't worry. I'm sure the guy with billions in business dealings with the Saudis has no conflicts of interest.

Never seen a guy without an official government position be involved in so much.

Like it or not, Trump trusts Jared Kushner on Middle East issues primarily because of Kushner's track record of delivering results that Trump views as historic successes, combined with deep personal and family loyalty, firsthand relationships with key regional leaders, and a deal-making style that aligns with Trump's own approach.

He’s also got more done than any cabinet member in his years assisting with stuff like this.

Iran has no leverage for if we want that Strait open with negotiation we turn up the bombardment volume.
The only reason Iran is not left totally defensless is to protect themselves from their neighbors.
But we have ALL of the LEVERAGE.

This is the 2+2=4 equation that nobody seems to be in understanding. With control of the shipping through the straight, just ask what would the world do if Iran has a nuclear weapon and then decided to control the straight. Just think about that. The world would have no leverage at all and Iran would essentially control the middle east and much of the world's energy production.

Of course we won't use it because it proves how well previous leaders have lied about Iran and it "laughable" leverage.
People got real excited when POTUS announced ending a civilization. I mean, they got real excited.

This ceasefire is shaky.
Iran is threatening to not attend the talks on Saturday unless Israel stops killing terrorists in Lebanon
Iran claims to have mines in the strait. Seems like they should be picking those up if the strait is supposed to be fully open.
Why should any ships need to coordinate with Iran to traverse the strait if it is freely open? They do not own the strait.
Ships should just go through the strait. If one is hit or damaged it is fully on Iran. Not sure if they really want that.

Vance will barter peace but the UAE could settle this with a meeting of their kingdoms to stop Iran cock blocking their strait and intetests.

You say that like Vance and Witkoff or the representatives from Iran's side have some level of neutrality? Literally everybody involved has a conflict of interest.

only reason we don't is because Iran knows our populace is infected with people like you
They are not beating us militarily, so their only hope is our generally weak resolve to complete anything.
Why the frick do you spend so much time HERE if you know everything?
Shouldn't your time be spent on something of value?
