Why is the US media not telling us more about China's current manufacturing struggles ?

I've been searching the past two days for actual numbers on how down Chinese manufacturing was in Q1 and it's difficult to find an honest article. Spoken to manufacturers and suppliers over there and they are hurting. The tariffs slowed down production drastically in Q4 and now the oil shortage is causing their facilities to devour each other. There is so much competition over there and not enough oil to meet minimal demand numbers already. The military gets first dibs on all reserves so you'll start to see more and more plants shut down and board up in the coming weeks and months. Again this is information coming straight out of China not some bullshite CNBC article. It's obvious the numbers out there saying Venezuela and Iran accounted for 15% of Chinese petroleum imports were a lie. I think the fact that Xi was purchasing those commodities at extreme discounts made it easier to mask the volumes and doctor the numbers. I said that Trump was playing the long game but I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. Taking out these proxies has put immediate pressure on Beijing and the Chinese economy is feeling the pain.

The Chinese economy, and its manufacturing specifically, have a major post covid problem. This has existed long before the tariffs and something I had to tell China Hawks about years ago. Covid did a number on many economies, including ours, but China may have had the biggest negative impact from covid. It makes the conspiracy theories that they releasing on purpose that much more silly

It's really a simple supply and demand issue. Chinese production lines are stopping and workers are being lead out of plants and the gates locked behind them. If your company leadership is cozy with Xi and his inner circle you're getting enough petroleum to continue manufacturing. If not, you're paying out the arse for it and that will not be sustainable for very long. Vietnam, Mexico and the good ol US of A should continue to benefit greatly from what is going on. Malaysia and Taiwan to some extent as well.

China has been in trouble, economically, for a long time now. People think they control the world economy. The only facet of the economy China controls is manufacturing rubber dog shite.

China's economy has been in shambles long before Covid, chief.

One of the better explanations I've seen of why China became such a manufacturing force is they're essentially exporting their deflation to the rest of the world

Maybe because the media hates us

I'm not sure people realize how important dependable fuel is to manufacturing. A peanut butter colossus like Skippy has a plant in freaking Little Rock, AR solely because of fuel. (look it up! Moved their plant during the oil embargo days because they needed dependable fuel)
With Trump cutting US oil and nat gas production loose, seizing Venezuela, crippling Iran, and shoring up the US Petrodollar, he really is putting the meat to China, economically. It has to be the most detailed and focused foreign policy of any US President in modern times.
There is also the the whole too many young guys in China thing. If they all start losing their jobs because the plants cant open on account of not having fuel to run them, it'll be interesting to see what that does to China domestically. Those young guys are already pissed because they cant get laid. Historically, that is usually a very very bad thing.

Don't want to do anything that gives Trump a perceived win.

Because on the list of things that count as news for the American public, coverage of the Chinese manufacturing sector is about number 682,409 on the list.

How is that a problem for a young guy in China?
They all look alike, so if one can get some they all can get some.

Coupled with their real estate and demographic issues, T45 tariffs already had them in enough of a bind that they played games in the 2020 election to help Biden.
I suspect those actions had a role in motivating Trump's China policies this term with extreme tariffs, plus Panama, Venezuela, and Iran

It really has been a foreign policy masterstroke. Again, I wish the facts would be reported in the media. Instead it's a constant, steady feed of negative news on the situation in Iran when this whole thing is WAAAAYYYYYY bigger than the just the fall of the Ayatollah.
