Yes the future is well, this year isn’t.

Jay will retool and make a run next year.

It could be 24 he through we had talent but not team chemistry coming off the title and this year we got team guys but not enough talent. So we win next year and he finds a balance.

That's exactly why Jay deserves some grace this year. frick the haters. Even Skip, Bear, and Saban didn't win titles every single year.

We saw Jay come back from the 22 and 24 seasons with a vengeance. CWS runs vs regional round exits probably played a role in portal recruiting, evals and visits too.
I still think this team has it in them to play with more consistency.

Regardless of our struggles, I expect this team to start hitting on all cylinders in May and like UConn bball, no one is going to want to see us in postseason play.

We are probably already eyeing the portal and recruiting. Gotta reload at some key positions to replace departing production and upgrade some whiffs.

Not sure next year's team will be better as we'll lose Curiel, Milam, Brown, and Stanfield. I still think this team makes it to Omaha and will finally put it together late in the season. But they have to stay in the winners bracket in Omaha as our quality pitching depth isn't there to make it out of the losers bracket. There are 7-8 pitchers I have decent trust in, then it's a steep drop off after that.

Thank you, OP.

Many here need reminders.

One of the most difficult trophies to win, and we have 2 of the last 3. Can't win it every year.

Man, that's optimistic AF. Hope we don't play any mid major or HBCU teams in a regional.

Not only that, both down years, he had the team fighting in both regionals. Both came down to the wire being tied or up late in game 7s.

Even when we’re down, LSU is a tough out. I’ll never give up on a Jay Johnson coached ball club, and neither should you. Unless you’re Nicholastiger or whatever your name is.

I know it was a loss, but that UNC regional was an instant classic and one of my favorites over the years.

There is a part of me who would like to see LSU Baseball barely make a #3 seed in a Regional and then actually win said Regional.

I did not think I had to directly say it was a joke.....

Winning a title is hard, clearly don't expect it every year.

But officially, Jay at LSU:

2022 - Regional
2023 - CWS Champion
2024 - Regional
2025 - CWS Champion
2026 - Regional?
2027 - CWS Champion?

2 National titles… and there’s more coming. Sustained success and repeats are not as easy as most here want to believe.

I trust in Jay.

I'm not seeing the roster pieces to win the CWS next year.... how are we replacing Milam/Curiel/Brown/Stanfield? That's a huge core of veterans that have been here for multiple years that will be really hard to replace.

I would be happy to go back there again for a regional. Plenty of places to grab a drink and nice campus to walk around.
