Sitting here down in the Keys waiting for my wife to finish packing and feeling super bummed out. It doesn't always happen to me but it's not uncommon. Anybody deal with it and any tips to avoid/overcome it?

I always make sure i have a few more days off to wind down at home before going back to work, nothing worse than having to go back the very next day. I also clean the shite out of the house before i leave, its super nice coming home to a clean house and fresh sheets, kinda gives you something to look forward to. And make sure not to over do it the last night, it sucks traveling home hungover as balls.

Always have another one in the hopper to look forward to.

I take a big trip every 2-3 months.

This is the right answer. I get sad when I don't have some kind of trip at least every two months to countdown to, even if it's just a quick weekend getaway

always. We just got home yesterday from 6 days in St. Augustine which was heaven on earth. Going to Charlottesville in two weeks, then WV/VA/SC in July and Colorado in august. Always have a next trip to look forward to even if it’s just a weekend

Book your next trip.
I always like to have something exciting planned, even if it is a year away.

I’ve got primary school aged grandkids near my home so I’m always excited to get back.

I just got back Sunday from two weeks in Scotland and they left the same day for the week in Rosemary.

So I’m sneaking over for a long day with them on Thursday.

They keep me from traveling more. And I’m fine with that.

Since last week of November, I have been on four long trips (Vegas three times, L. A.) and “short” trips to Dallas and Houston. Saw my favorite comedian 4 times, saw Def Leppard, Santana, Blake Shelton, and Styx. Met Lucy Darling, Tape Face, and Angela White. Ate some great food. Visited the Walk of Fame. Met some great people. Trip to Dallas was Easter weekend.

Now, I have no trips planned or any to look forward to. Two more concerts (Alison Krauss & Bryan Adam’s/Pat Benatar) and that’s it. I feel like that meme of Pablo Escobar sitting on the swing.

Bummed doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Don't live somewhere you hate going back to. Used to happen to me every time I travelled when I lived in Louisiana. Now I live in Utah... and it does not.

The ole Sunday Scaries.

1) Don't get drunk on your last day, the hangover will make the anxiety and scaries 10x worse the next day when you're home

2) Go through your work email and clear out as much as you can so it feels way less overwhelming when you log in the first day back

ETA: Also this

When we lived in Chicago heading back was the worst, especially between the months of Oct and Mar. Now I get excited to come home whatever time of year it is.

Living somewhere you love is the key. I used to travel to places and want to move there. Now I live where I want to be, so I am always excited to get home.

Yeah, other places are great but not better than home.

THIS! But when I did live in Louisiana having a dog made coming back from vacation much more bearable. Picking him up from boarding and seeing how happy he was made it all good.

Review pictures and clean them up on devices on the way home. Start planning the next one. Have at least one day off when you get back.

For me it's always worse on road trips. It never happens when I fly.
