Trump could say he's going to feed all the starving kids on earth out of his own pocket and Nacy Pelosi would try to stop him.

Quick google search says 60 million a year

Not super significant but better than something that eats away at funds

I would argue that housing incarcerated fraudsters that steal billions annually is super significant. What do you think?

Seems like it would be cheaper and easier to build a new facility.

I agree. Trump should probably stop pardoning people that commit financial fraud.

I think if we’re in need of another federal prison, there are probably better places for it.

But I’m not sure we are in need of another prison. The population at ADX Florence is well below capacity.

The operational costs were the killer before. Roughly 3x more expensive than other prisons.

Keep your knees away from things that can be damaged by them jerking.

Nancy Pelosi, our arch budget hawk!

It would be. It's stupid to even suggest renovating Alcatraz. But Trump is their God, so they have to roll with it. If Pelosi were suggesting it, they'd be laughing their asses off.

There is no possible modern use of Alcatraz. I went there two years ago. To make it useable as a prison would require the teardown of the museum and rebuilding of the prison to be usable.

Just another dumb idea.

Nancy herself should be the first inmate sent there.

I can't imagine that it wouldn't be also.

I'd say odds are 3 to 2 that within the next few months a story breaks about how Trump's family was going to somehow profit from refurbishing Alcatraz.

Some tacky, shameless nonsense like commemorative coins or Make Alcatraz Great Again hats or something even a little bit into the area of conflicts of interest.

Otherwise it seems like an odd fixation.

Downvote if you agree.
