That has to create a certain level of anxiety past just being in space.

Tonight, the moon-bound astronauts and NASA mission control will face a nail-biting moment this evening when the Artemis II enters a deep-space dead zone that cuts them off from Earth for around an hour.
This blackout period comes as NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch ?and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen are slated to travel 252757 miles from Earth during their fly-by of the moon, over 4,000 miles beyond the record set by the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission in 1970, Reuters reported.
This important milestone will occur at around 7:05 p.m. EST, during which the lunar explorers will get a never-before-seen view of the dark-side of the moon.

Hopefully the dark side moon monsters don’t grab them.

And if they didn't emerge, what would we do?
What would anyone do?
Lots of talking heads would talk and say nothing.
Then Elon Musk would suggest using one of his rockets with cameras to send around the moon to take pictures.
And no one would have a better idea.

It’s the Farside of the Moon.
On the other hand I get into a radio blackout every time I go north of Indian Mound on Greenwell Springs Rd.

With the advancement of technology, and the ease of putting sats on orbit these days. you would think we'd have a constellation of communication satellites orbiting the moon that would eliminate the blackout on the far side of the moon...

It would be just for this.
Wouldn't be a bad idea though.

I hope they brought a flashlight.
Actually, I hope they take pictures of the stary sky while shadowed from the sun.

I'm kinda surprised we don't have satellites orbiting the moon. Not necessarily for this, just in general. I guess there's no good reason to.

False. Apollo 8 in 1968 did it first.
