That’s great and all, but it seems like they suck arse when it comes to team ERA every year. Lead the country in strikeouts yet middle of the pack to bottom half of the SEC in ERA. Smh. Tired of watching this pitching staff give up 7 or more runs almost every game. Even against midweek teams like Southern. I know dang well these guys are better than what they are showing out there on the mound. Some of them anyway.

You pitch to get Ks and you'll give up some runs. You're hitting the zone generally. You're also gonna give up some runs doing this.

Is this accurate? If so, OP is still correct. If I am wrong feel free to correct me. I am very tired.

NCAA statistics

According to the linked website, LSU is 3rd in the nation in Ks per 9 innings. 12.9 K/ 9 inn
But 32nd in K to walk ratio. 2.66K/BB

As far as I know the data provided at that link is correct.

But link in the OP points to an AI search, and everytime you click the link, it runs the question through AI. The first time I clicked it, it showed up giving information about Kade Anderson, which obviously from last year.

Per 9 third, but currently the most total Ks. I am actually somewhat surprised they have the most Ks as a pitching staff, but it makes sense considering they walk a lot too.

I’m seeing 135 walks which seems like a lot.

Like for example Tennessee has only given up 88 walks. Texas A&M leads the nation with only 63 walks given up.

The good thing is LSU is 4th in the country at getting walked with 183.

These stats are kind of wild to look at.

Uhhhh. I don’t think that makes sense at all. Either you’re pounding the zone, or you aren’t.

The fact is LSU’s Ace has bipolar outings. He has games where he strikes out 15+, and he’s had a couple games where he issued 10-12 free passes.
Several other pitcher have similar inconsistency issues.

I don’t blame Yeskie. I blame certain pitchers being inconsistent.

What I mean is from my recollection of watching LSU play it seems like LSU walks a ton of guys, but also eventually gets out of innings with strikeouts.

I also agree about the bipolar outings.

Could not agree more! It’s funny how these childish, dumbass pricks here dislike Yeski and complain about him all season, yet every season his pitchers develop into a force to be reckoned with for postseason.

For example, Thatcher Hurd was Thatcher “Turd” all season. Then, boom, he pitched brilliantly in Omaha!

Three of the runs given up to Southern were a direct result of Stanfield dropping a fairly routine fly ball that would have ended the inning. You can’t put those 3 on our pitching staff.

14th in the SEC in giving up walks I think. Improve that and everything will improve including our record.

Cut down on walks and this team is going to be okay.

Seems that it’s Yeskie’s MO here, starts the season with a ton walks figuring out who he can depend on. Then tweaks a few things and sticks with who he can trust. Back end of the season is far less walks.
