With there only being limited amount of so say 1st round graded players this year, there could be a handful of trades in the top end of this draft to shake the whole thing up. I'd prefer best defense player available @ 8 or trade back to acquire extra picks.

There is a high probability that there will be opportunities for a trade back……but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that. Micky has said multiple times that he doesn’t really believe in trading back (paraphrasing of course).

He believes in getting their highest graded player on the board at their selection. He doesn’t believe in taking lesser players to acquire more picks

At some point we are going to finally get this right and he's going to trade back.

I love trading with Miami for their 1st, 2nd, and latest 3rd for our 1st + 3rd + 4th + 4th

Somebody (Downs, Delane, Bailey, Tate, etc) always falls to them and then you can get a CB + Malachi in the 2nd

So that means this draft is top heavy. And we should trade out of said Top Heavy part of the draft…..

if the top defenders or gone then yes. Grab a few more second tier players.
It's not chess, it's checkers. I don't really want any of the receivers at the top of this draft either.

You think the NFL draft is checkers? Why aren’t you calling 32 front offices right now and offering your services?

I wouldn’t trade down past 13. You can still get a pretty top tier rated player at that spot or right before.

Next year's draft is loaded. Teams are trying to acquire picks for next year, not give them up. You won't see much movement at the top of this one most likely. You definitely won't see it with the Saints. Every year for over a decade we riddle this board with "trade back," yet all we ever do is sit tight or trade up. Get used to it.

some always have to take a comment way out of context. This year top tier talent is maybe a handful. Why not trade back get an extra pick or 2 of players that may be just as good as the so say experts that or ranking them.

Yeah I’ve thought of trade backs as well. I’d assume the most attractive offers may be bigger trade backs that also net you a 1st in this super coveted 27 draft as well. It seems like everyone has been pining about that class for years.

If you have a guy who isn’t necessarily a consensus high valuation guy pretty high on your board that could be had with a trade back this year then maybe a 27 first is the tempting offer.

If there are only a

Why in the world would teams be willing to give away assets resulting in,

a handful of trades in the top end of this draft to shake the whole thing up

Thats what I don’t get about these surface/Madden level types of draft threads. Either there are great players and we should take them. Or there aren’t great players and people aren’t moving up for them.

Consider the value between the top guys at X position relative to the next crop of guys at the same position.

Who are teams willing to trade up for?

He hasn’t since 2007 (in any round), so we’re due.

I always come back to the Rams maybe feeling like they’re playing with house money already. I haven’t done a deep dive on their roster and how long guys are signed for but if there was a guy they loved that dropped a couple spots due to the way the top half of the top 10 shakes out…

This.

Every year countless people say the Saints should trade back, forgetting that (a) the Saints rarely, if ever, do so and (b) another team has to want to trade up to allow that to happen.

I believe we go defensive first (edge is priority but if the player isn't there then we will go secondary). The second round would be for WR.
