I’m sure it’s been discussed 1000x here before but search feature still sucks.

I’m looking for recs on a dependable personal protection pistol that will live in my truck then be passed down to my wife once she’s comfortable. Wife is tiny and has never been around guns, but has agreed to learn gun safety and good practices.

Any suggestions?

How about learning to keep it on you first.

I would call him ignorant before calling him a dumbass.
Now, if he's been told about how bad it is to keep a gun in a vehicle, yet still does it..........that's a dumbass

Smith & Wesson just sent out this email.

Interesting gun. I'm not sure what that thing on end of barrel is supposed to add for the gun.

It's tacti-cool and supposed to allow faster second shots

i'd imagine it may be a bit more difficult finding holsters that fit that set up.

Since it’s hard I found these for you in less than 5 minutes. For future reference don’t use the search feature within Tigerdroppings. Instead do a google search and add Tigerdroppings after your search words such as “handgun recommendations tigerdroppings”. You are welcome.

Oh and don’t keep a gun in your vehicle unless you have a way of locking/securing beyond just locking the vehicle doors. It’s widely considered irresponsible gun ownership and how many thugs easily get their hands on guns.

[get a gun vault for your truck if you are determined to let it say in your vehicle. Don’t keep in your console and think it’s safe.

If you aren't intelligent enough to understand why you shouldnt keep a gun in a vehicle, then you are a dumb arse.

Looks like everyone has told you to not
Leave it in the truck already…
Don’t make the mistake of getting a small gun, everyone thinks small and tiny will be easy to shoot and it’s opposite. Small is snappy and hard to control.
How old is she? Any strength issues?
My MIL was mid 60s and somewhat frail and she had trouble racking my Glock 17-19 and 43x. No issues shooting them.
She ended up with a MP shield EZ with the easy slide. She shot several boxes of ammo with it and qualified for her concealed carry permit with it.

Maybe you don't know his situation???

I keep a gun in my truck all the time.

It's in a safe.
My truck is parked inside a locked garage
When I go to the office, I park in a secured parking garage.

Maybe ask before you call someone a dumbass, else you look like one.

Springfield Hellcat or Sig 365. Ive had both and like both enough to not pick one over the other.

Regarding the truck thing... Just be mindful of bring it to work (many places do not allow firearms on work campuses (plants and other blue collar sites). If you have an F150, go ahead and purchase the gun vault for the console. Park in the garage, or bring the gun inside with you every night.

Thats mounted to what? Plastic that is easily ripped off the mount and now they have your safe and gun? Is it mounted to the frame of your vehicle with grade 8 bolts? Doubtful.

Ask One Shell Square how "secure" their parking garage with security guards was 3 years ago when 4 vehicles were stolen in less than a months. Those pesky fire escapes can only be so secure to pass fire code.

Over 50% of all guns stolen in the US are stolen from vehicles. It’s estimated in 2024 that almost 85% of criminals acquired their guns from illegal means…stole it, bought it from someone who stole it etc. keep it in your vehicle if you want but make sure it gets locked down.
I have a S&W Model 15 that was stolen out of my dad’s truck in 1984. He reported it. In 1992 his buddy who was a detective called him and told him his gun was used in a local murder. My dad got it back after the guy pleaded to manslaughter. He gave it to me some years later.

Go old school and get a gun rack. Add a dash mount for pistol, think cell phone holder.

My suggestion is get some nice rims, they my distract a thief from breaking in truck.
