I sold my travel trailer today and I will be getting something smaller that my wife can drive. I know if I trade it in it will offset some taxes. But with this equal back to what I would make if I sold it outright. I have a clear title.

If I do decide to sell what website is the best for posting it?

I mean, do you want the headache of dealing with random tire kickers and a-hole buyers for a couple grand, maybe?

What's worth more, marginally more money, or your time and peace?

Carvana was a simple process and gave me a fair deal.

Get instant offers from Carmax, Carvana and KBB.com. KBB goes out to local dealers, and they will call you and want you to sell to them.

Use those offers to leverage your trade in, then once you have all the numbers, you can decide if you want to hassle with private sale for a little extra or just sell it/trade it to a dealership.

I have personal beef with Carmax. They will do people who don't know any better dirty dirty.

But aside from that, typically I've seen that Carmax will offer you "more"

But when you factor in the tax savings from trading in it's pretty much a wash.

Take it to Carmax. They will offer much more. My wife's 2021 Equinox was valued 12,000 at the dealership and 13,300 at Carmax. And all they did was get her info, . mileage, etc and had the value in 2 minutes in our email.

No, not honoring the warranty when the transmission on a supposedly new car crapped out after 6000 miles and then they wanted 6 grand to fix it and she didn't have 6 grand so they started charging storage fees and she just told them to take it back and it tanked her credit.

And then the warranty paperwork came in like a month later.

Like I said it's personal

So...the dealership valued it at 12000.
Just going with BR taxes @10.5 on that which is 1260 of tax you aren't paying.
So total value 13260

And Carmax gave you 13300

So you got a grand total of...40 bucks more?

Your gas and time must not be worth much.

Hell the dealer probably would have thrown in an extra hundred dollars or two.

If you are selling a paid off vehicle outright, Carmax might be easier.

But if you are trying to trade it in it's almost always a wash to go with tax savings and less of a hassle

I would love to not take my wife shopping. I have had this truck for three years and she has moved it about 15'. She is too short to drive it. I would still be doing most of the driving though.

I have been checking with KBB and this is my trade in value this morning from them for my truck. Trade in range $45,370 to $49,970 and an average of $47,670. It only has about 28,000 miles.

Gas - this got me thinking to check what engine KBB had. It was diesel. Here are the new values.

$39,556 to $44,256 and an average of $41,956. It has the Texas Edition package.

Recently traded in my wife’s car - got a very good offer from CarMax. Dealer tried lowballing me by $4k initially but bumped it up very close to the CarMax offer, so the tax savings made the trade a better deal.

ETA: One of the other companies (can’t remember - maybe Carvana) gave a much lower offer than CarMax, so shop them all. Just takes minutes.

Trim level/ condition/miles?

Nvm.

Id sell it outright .

Low miles, so PP sale will net you the most $$$.

If it was diesel, it would be gold. Still, a low mile gas will do well

Get offers from givemethevin and Texas direct auto. They’re willing to come to the dealership and do an in and out transaction so you can get the tax savings at their price. Use those offers to leverage the dealer’s offer as high as they’re willing to go and then decide if it’s worth the hassle of coordinating with the other buyer or just taking the dealers offer. Similarly, if you want to deal with individuals, put it on marketplace and see if you can get anyone willing to go higher.
