You have to move Zion this summer

Whatever potential he had as a franchise player is gone.
I always thought he was held back by health.
He’s healthy and he’s just not that good. His athleticism doesn’t jump out like it used to.
That will only get worse.
This a great draft. There will be steals outside the lottery. See if you can get a first this year.
It allows you to maybe find some talent, opens his spot for Queen and lets you finally move on.
He will never be it. His absolute peak was that stretch a few years ago where he dominated against Denver and Philly but that’s it. Never got close to that again.
I capitulate

Well if you believe reports they were shopping him at the deadline and could not get a bag of chips. Griff. could not get anything either.

I do think they tried to ship him out and couldn’t get anything.
I don’t think that will be the case this offseason after a healthy season and also only having two years left on his deal.
I still don’t think anyone is giving up a top 10 pick for him, but I do think we can take back a bad contract with 2 or 3 firsts.

His contract to production won’t give you shite. We’ll have to give up assets to unload him. He just needs to run the second unit and you can’t let him finish games. He is what he is.

How many teams have 40M to trade without including a bunch of junk contracts?
I don't want someone like Paul George just to unload him..

I want to move him but not at the cost of future picks or taking back bad salaries

Zion also strikes me as a guy who has his step-dad leak to teams to not bother trading for him if theyre not the New York Knicks

It is what it is, not only is he a bust and drain as a player we can’t get anything of value and he’s a constant albatross for the Pels.
As long as he’s here we’re stuck in the 18-30 win seasons.

What if they gave you 2 first round picks (Houston this year and Clippers in ‘28) another pick swap in ‘29 and 2 future GSW seconds?
You’d rather run it back with Zion than something like that?

Zion isn’t going anywhere and to be honest he doesn’t need to until Queen becomes more reliable. He has way too many games where he just looks list ob defense and only gives you 4 points. As the season has gone on my expectations for the rookies has flipped. Now Fears looks like a good starter going forward but Queen is a bench player so far if you ask me.

I remember saying a couple years ago that I wouldn’t take Zion on my team if they were giving him away for free. I believed the drama surrounding him and his inability to stay healthy negatively impact teams. I did not like his drive or attitude. I never felt he was a winning player at all, and more than that I felt he actively hurts his own team.
Today I feel exactly the same. I wouldn’t want him on my team if he was given away for nothing.
If I feel this way, surely GMs around the league feel similarly.

People were drinking the kool-aid way too soon on Queen and it was obvious. Kid has too many glaring holes to his game. He's not a plus athlete, he's not a good shooter, he doesn't have elite measurements and he can't play a lick of defense.
I just don't see a world where Queen becomes a starting caliber big in the league. He can be a decent 3rd or 4th bigman, but considering we could've had a top 3 pick instead had we tanked when we were at 3-22, we could have our future superstar that we're currently missing.
For now, our only hope is that Fears can become a superstar, because if not, we're a long way from ever being a contender.

You could have said all of that about David West, and it was largely true until he was 25 years old and in his third season.
And I don’t agree that he’s not a good shooter. He’s shooting 79% from the line which is bodes pretty well for his ability to shoot. I think he’ll end up a very good free throw shooter with enough of a shooter range, handle and passing ability to be a very solid offensive big.
Can he ever defend and rebound enough to be a meaningful piece . . . who knows.
Someone please make a 30 for 30 on David West’s work ethic and game. That is our hope here.

You're being way to hard on Queen. He will figure it out. Y'all are too impatient and at times unrealistic with these rookies. I have high hopes for all 3 rookies including Peavy. I've seen enough of their highs to be optimistic. The lows were always going to show up during their rookie year. It's expected.

During the first part of the year Queen was knocking down his midrange pretty well. I think with a good offseason Queen makes a jump and becomes really good for the Pels. I know a lot of people will shite on him because of the trade but I’m going to give him some time to adjust to the league.

quote:Hope so. My concern is how lazy and disinterested he seems to get too quickly. Teams have learned how to frustrate him and it leads to him pouting and sulking. Maybe he will mature. However, he will always be a huge liability on defense as he has bricks for feet and does not move them.
